The 1.5.1.001 (or 1.5.1.1) update added and removed many items, notably adding many dedicated items and two furniture sets, and removing several secondary difficulty modes, leading to changes in the obtainment methods of former Challenge items. Debuffs received new synergy and vulnerability mechanics, and cooldown debuffs are replaced with custom separated icons. This update was also notable for reworking the Ark of the Cosmos along with all of the weapons in its crafting tree, beginning with the Broken Biome Blade and Fractured Ark.

Changes

Bosses

  • All Challenge items and Legendary Challenge items except Gael's Greatsword no longer drop from bosses in Malice Mode.
  • Increased drop rates of Corruption Key and Crimson Key from 10% to 16.67%. Increased drop rates of Frozen Key, Hallowed Key, and Jungle Key from 20% to 33.33%. All Keys now drop directly from the boss instead of from the Treasure Bag.
  • All Calamity and Vanilla bosses will now drop their Expert Mode exclusive drop regardless of world difficulty.
  • All Brimstone Darts now have faster acceleration and maximum speed in Malice Mode.
  • Limited the maximum speed of Brimstone Hellblasts and Brimstone Hellfireballs.
  • Nerfed Boss Rush's boss projectile velocity multiplier from 1.35x to 1.25x.
  • Boss Rush bosses now inherit most effects from Malice Mode.
  • Boss Rush now inherits lifesteal nerfs and defense damage buffs from Malice Mode.
  • Boss Rush now inherits the Shadow Dodge nerf from Revengeance Mode.
  • Nerfed Malice Mode's damage multiplier from 1.35x to 1.25x.
  • Removed custom boss damage reduction effects where Cursed Inferno worked less effectively on the following bosses:
    • Adult Eidolon Wyrm.
    • The Dragonfolly.
    • Polterghast.
    • Providence.
    • Supreme Calamitas, Supreme Cataclysm, Supreme Catastrophe.
    • Yharon.
  • Boss gores now scale proportionally with the size of the bosses.
  • Removed Reactive Damage Reduction from all bosses except Providence during night time.
  • Removed Timed Aggression.

Adult Eidolon Wyrm

  • Nerfed health from 2,100,000 / 3,360,000 Expert Mode / 3,864,000 Revengeance Mode to 2,012,500 / 3,220,000 Expert Mode / 3,864,000 Revengeance Mode.
  • No longer immune to damage over 10% of its health.
  • Increased speed while despawning by 50%.
  • Spawns one more Eidolist, two more Ancient Dooms, moves 33.33% faster, and can push the player while enraged.
  • Nerfed speed of charges, lightning strikes, and ice mists while not enraged but buffed the speed while enraged.
  • No longer starts rain when spawned.
  • Juvenile Eidolon Wyrm no longer pushes the player if the Adult Eidolon Wyrm is alive.

    • Adjusted Aquatic Aberration AI, increasing its speed if The Leviathan is in her final phase. Base speed is also increased in Expert Mode and above.
  • Death Mode changes:
    • Anahita and Leviathan can always use their charge attacks regardless of phases.
    • Anahita transitions into Phase 4 at 40% health instead of 20%.
    • The Leviathan now spawns instantly.
    • The Leviathan transitions into Phase 2 immediately instead of at 70% health.
    • The Leviathan transitions into Phase 3 at 70% health instead of 40%.
    • The Leviathan transitions into Phase 4 at 40% health instead of 20%.
    • The Leviathan now performs 1 charge in Phase 2, 2 charges in Phase 3, and 3 charges in Phase 4 instead of 2 charges in all phases.
    • Decreased the maximum amount of Aquatic Aberrations from 4 to 3.
    • Aquatic Aberrations now push away from each other.

  • Death Mode changes:
    • Astrum Aureus now damages itself for 1% of its health to summon Aureus Spawns, up to a minimum of 1 remaining health.
    • Increased velocity and spread of Astral Flame Crystals.
    • Aureus Spawn now charges at the player for 10 seconds instead of 5 before exploding.
    • Aureus Spawn now fires Astral Flame Crystals every 3 seconds while not charging.
    • Aureus Spawns now push away from each other.

Astrum Deus

  • No longer increases in fall speed while over 200 and 350 tiles away from the player.
  • Now fires mines which split into four lasers diagonally when below 70% health.
  • Now fires double helix lasers when below 50% health in Expert Mode.
  • Now fires moving mines when below 30% health in Expert Mode.
  • No longer immune to all debuffs. It is now immune to Confused, Pearl Aura, Poisoned, and Astral Infection.
  • Buffed head damage reduction from 0% to 20%, but nerfed defense from 50 to 35.
  • Buffed body damage reduction from 0% to 10%, but nerfed defense from 25 to 20.
  • Buffed tail damage reduction from 0% to 30%, but nerfed defense from 75 to 50.
  • Buffed size modifier from 100% / 135% Revengeance Mode to 100% / 120% Expert Mode / 135% Revengeance Mode / 140% Death Mode / 150% Malice Mode.
  • The other worm now remains alive when one worm is killed while in Death Mode. Doing so causes the remaining boss to turn transparent, reduce in defense and damage reduction, and perform all attack types simultaneously.

Brain of Cthulhu

  • Buffed health from 1000 / 1700 Expert Mode / 2720 Revengeance Mode to 1400 / 2380 Expert Mode / 2856 Revengeance Mode.
  • Increased distance the boss teleports away from the player while enraged.
  • In Revengeance Mode, Creepers no longer drop Crimtane Ores or Tissue Samples. The Treasure Bag now contains an additional 100-180 Crimtane Ores and 60-120 Tissue Samples.

Brimstone Elemental

  • Buffed health from 30,000 / 48,000 Expert Mode / 65,600 Revengeance Mode to 41,000 / 65,600 Expert Mode / 78,720 Revengeance Mode.

Decreased tether lifespan from 7 seconds to 6 and it pulls the player more slowly. It no longer spawns enemies and no longer has damage reduction.
    • Both variants of Cryocore can now spawn in the Snow biome in Hardmode and drop Essence of Eleum at a 33% and 50% chance respectively. The player can right click to parry an enemy or projectile, granting the player immunity frames, reducing damage taken from said attack, and causing the sword to be temporarily empowered and fire beams. The player can also fire a laser beam by using up all the charges gained from a parry. Projectiles no longer inflict debuffs. Buffed damage from 98 to 188.
    • Reworked Ark of the Cosmos. It now has a custom swing animation and no longer summons projectiles on each swing. Instead, stars are fired on the second and fourth swing and beams are fired on the first four swings of a five-attack sequence. The fifth attack launches the sword which spins in place before returning to the player.     • Reworked Clockwork Bow. It now holds out a bow which charges up to six homing bolts instead of firing 10 arrows from the sky. Damage of the bolts increases based on the number of loaded bolts. Buffed damage from 66 to 808.
    • Reworked Disseminator. It now fires a spread of four bullets from the gun itself, eight bullets from above and eight bullets from below if a target is present, instead of firing 4-5 bullets from above, below, and from the gun towards the cursor regardless of enemies. The bullets from above and below are distributed if more enemies are present.
    • Reworked Fractured Ark. It now has a custom swing animation and no longer summons projectiles on each swing. The player can right click to parry an enemy or projectile, granting the player immunity frames, reducing damage taken from said attack, and causing the sword to be temporarily empowered and fire beams. Projectiles no longer inflict debuffs. Nerfed damage from 92 to 80, buffed velocity from 12 to 15.
    • Reworked Galaxia. It no longer fires a spread of projectiles in its base form. The player can right click to change the type of attacks, summoning different sigils while using the weapon with different attunements. The player can shuffle between all attunements, instead of dynamically granting buffs and inflicting debuffs based on the player's current biome. Events no longer have an effect on the sword. Buffed damage from 99 to 800.
    • Reworked Pumpler. It now has a singular firing type that holds out a gun which charges up to five pumpkin shells. Buffed damage from 8 to 27 but nerfed use time from 10 to 30. It no longer uses any ammo.
    • Reworked Soma Prime. It now inflicts Shred regardless of bullet type. Shred now inflicts 75 damage per second instead of 750 but it is now affected by ranged damage boosts and can stack on top of each other. Additionally, critical strike chance above 100% can cause bullets to deal additional critical strike damage, which can also affect the Shred debuff. Shred now has an effect of causing targets to release visual blood particles. Increased damage while using Musket Balls by 4. Buffed chance to not consume ammo from 50% to 80% and increased the duration of Shred from 3 seconds to 5.33. Nerfed damage from 200 to 130, critical strike chance from 44% to 34%, use time from 2 to 5, and velocity from 30 to 9.
    • Reworked Sulphuric Acid Cannon. It now fires a homing blast instead of a bubble which dissipates into mists on hit. It no longer inflicts Venom on hit. Buffed damage from 132 to 144.
