Moon Lord1100% Malice Mode

The Grand Dad was a post-Moon Lord broadsword that was dropped by the Moon Lord in Malice Mode. Whenever it contacted a non-boss enemy, their defense was reduced to zero and their knockback resistance was set to -600%. It also had an exceptionally high knockback stat and size.

Its best modifier was Legendary.

Notes

  • Grand Dad dealt 75% of its original damage on Polterghast and Signus, Envoy of the Devourer.
  • The Grand Dad's knockback resistance removal could affect enemies that are immune to knockback.
  • The defense and knockback resistance removal did not affect enemies with no contact damage or most event minibosses.

Tips

  • The knockback made this weapon a good tool to keep an enemy with high health away.

Trivia

  • Its name and tooltip, as well as the "7" on its sprite (and the 777 base damage and 77 knockback), were a reference to a meme known as "7 GRAND DAD," a Chinese bootleg copy of The Flintstones: The Rescue of Dino & Hoppy for the Famicom system and popularized by Vargskelethor a.k.a Joel from Vinesauce, and SiIvagunner.
  • The word "Yeet", which is present in the tooltip, is internet slang that means "to throw at high velocity".

History

These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
  • 1.5.0.001:
    • Now drops from Moon Lord in Malice Mode instead of all difficulties. Increased drop rate from 2.5% to 100% Malice Mode.
    • Now has a custom - Challenge Item - (#FF8C00 ●) tag instead of using the Rarity level: Rare Variant rarity.
  • 1.4.2.102: On-hit effects now don't affect enemies from a specific assigned list instead of just automatically not affecting bosses.
