The Eye of Magnus is a craftable Hardmode classless weapon that is an upgraded version of the Lunic Eye. When used, it fires a fast, homing magnus beam that restores 25 mana and heals the player 10% of the damage dealt upon hitting an enemy and inflicts the Marked for Death debuff. Upon impact, the beams create a visual explosive plume of blue-and-white particles. The weapon and its projectiles scale with the current damage stats from all classes. It does not consume any ammo or mana.

The Eye of Magnus cannot be reforged, and therefore cannot have modifiers.

Notes

  • As this weapon does not count as a specific weapon type, it does not provoke the penalty on minions' damage when holding a non-summoner weapon, making it an indispensable asset for summon-based characters.
  • The damage multiplication is equal to all-class damage bonuses added by the average of damage boosts from each of the 5 individual classes (Melee, Ranged, Mage, Summoner, Rogue).
    • e.g. If the player has +10% melee damage, +30% ranged damage, +5% rogue damage, and +15% all-class damage, the Eye of Magnus will deal 24% more damage.
  • The additional hits from the impact explosion will not replenish HP or mana, only the initial enemy hit will.

Trivia

History

These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
  • 2.0.4.001:
    • Lifesteal now bypasses lifesteal immunity, but obeys the lifesteal cooldown.
    • Projectiles now heal for 10% of damage dealt instead of 1 health.
    • Now uses the Rarity Level: 10 rarity instead of Rarity Level: 9.
  • 2.0.2.001: Now uses 12 Nebula Fragments in its recipe instead of 10.
  • 1.5.1.001:
    • Nerfed damage from 80 to 32, but buffed knockback from 2 to 5.
    • Now classless and is boosted by all damage boosts. It no longer consumes mana or can critically strike, and now inflicts Marked for 8 seconds.
    • Now crafted from a Lunic Eye and 10 Nebula Fragments at an Ancient Manipulator instead of being dropped by Lunatic Cultist in Malice Mode.
  • 1.5.0.001:
    • Buffed damage from 55 to 80.
    • Now drops from Lunatic Cultist in Malice Mode instead of Rune Wizards in all difficulties. Increased drop rate from 10% to 100% Malice Mode.
    • Now has a custom - Challenge Item - (#FF8C00 ●) tag instead of using the Rarity level: Rare Variant rarity.
  • 1.4.5.001:
    • Added a sprite to its projectile.
    • Fixed an oversight that caused it to deal ranged damage.
  • 1.4.2.105: Tooltip now mentions that its effect occurs on hits in general instead of just enemy hits.
  • 1.4.2.104: Now grants 10 local immunity frames.
