The Borealis Bomber is a Hardmode summon weapon that is dropped by Astrum Aureus. When used, it summons an Aureus Bomber that does not take up minion slots. It attacks by ramming into enemies within a range of 43 tiles and exploding upon impact, inflicting the Astral Infection debuff. The Aureus Bomber can move through tiles but cannot target enemies through them. If no enemies are nearby, the Aureus Bomber will follow the player and explode on its own after a moderate amount of time.
Its best modifier is Mythical, due to its unique nature of not requiring minion slots to be used and being able to be summoned in large numbers with a low enough use time, resulting in high damage output.
Notes
- Due to these properties, this weapon is essentially a magic weapon for the summoner class. It avoids the damage penalty for minions while also scaling with summoner equipment, giving a decent amount of damage in comparison with other classless weapons available.
- The aureus bombers can be summoned with no empty minion slots and without de-summoning pre-existing summons.
Tips
- As summon weapons are not affected by the Mana Sickness debuff caused by drinking mana potions, this weapon can be used in conjunction with the Mana Flower with no negative effect.
