The Shadethrower is a craftable Pre-Hardmode flamethrower that is also dropped by The Hive Mind. It uses Gel for ammunition. When used, it fires four bursts of shade clouds at a short range. Each cloud pierces twice, is unaffected by liquids, cannot pass through tiles, and inflicts the Brain Rot debuff.
Its best modifier is Unreal.

Trivia
- This weapon's name is a pun on the slang term throwing shade, which is to publicly insult someone in a subtle way.
History

- 2.0.4.003: Nerfed damage from 23 to 22, but flames now grant 10 ID-static immunity frames instead of 15.
- 2.0.4.001:
- Buffed damage from 21 to 23.
- Flames now pierce twice instead of infinitely, grant 15 ID-static immunity frames instead of 10, and inflict Brain Rot for 4 seconds instead of 5.
- Fixed its backpack sprite sometimes drawing with an incorrect offset.
- 2.0.3.007:
- Nerfed use animation from 10 to 30, but flames now grant 10 ID-static immunity frames.
- No longer has a 66% chance to not consume ammo.
- Improved its flame visuals.
