Sounds

The System Bane is a craftable Hardmode spiky ball. When used, the player throws a gravity-affected electric machine that continuously deals damage to targets that come into contact with it. Occasionally if there's a target nearby, the device releases lightning to triple-strike it. Up to 5 machines can be out at a time.

Performing a stealth strike with the System Bane causes the resulting machine to emit a large pulsating electric field that releases lightning into enemies within it.

The weapon consumes 0.085 units of charge per use and has a maximum charge of 135. As such, the weapon can be used continuously from full charge 1588 times, or for 6 minutes and 10 seconds.

Its best modifier is Flawless.

The System Bane cannot be crafted until the Encrypted Schematic from the Jungle Bio-center Lab is decrypted. If the requirement has not been met, two lines of tooltip are added at the bottom of the item:

History

These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
  • 2.0.1.001: Now uses 10 Infected Armor Plating in its recipe instead of 5.
  • 1.5.0.001:
    • Lingering projectile damage values now have diminishing returns depending on how many bane projectiles currently exist.
    • Fixed an issue that caused it to lose its charge when reforged.
    • Fixed stealth strikes incorrectly drawing.
  • 1.4.5.004: Fixed an oversight where it was not properly classified as a spiky ball.
  • 1.4.5.003:
    • Now uses 20 Dubious Plating, 10 Mysterious Circuitry, 5 Life Alloys and 5 Infected Armor Plating in its recipe instead of 3, 3, 1, and 1 respectively.
    • No longer stacks up to 5. The player can still throw out a maximum of 5 electric machines.
    • Depletion of charge is no longer random, it now consumes 0.085 charge on every use.
  • 1.4.5.002:
    • Fixed it not being classified as a spiky ball.
    • Fixed it being able to receive modifiers.
