The Caustic Edge is a craftable Hardmode broadsword that autoswings. When swung, it fires a high-velocity, yellow sword beam that can bounce or pierce up to two times, and deals 75% of the weapon's damage. It inflicts the Acid Venom debuff to hit enemies.

Its best modifier is Legendary.

  • 2.0.3.001: Renamed from "True Caustic Edge" to "Caustic Edge".
  • 1.5.1.001:
    • Buffed damage from 100 to 150.
    • No longer inflicts On Fire!.
    • Direct hits now inflict Poisoned for 5 seconds instead of 10, and Venom for 2.5 seconds instead of 5.
    • Projectile now inflicts Poisoned for 3 seconds, and Venom for 2 seconds instead of 1.5.
    • Now uses the Rarity Level: 4 rarity instead of Rarity Level: 5.
  • 1.4.5.007: Fixed the tooltip mentioning its outdated additional damage on bounce function.
  • 1.4.5.006: Projectile no longer gains additional damage after bouncing off a block.
  • 1.4.4.002:
    • Buffed damage from 42 to 100.
    • Projectile now gains a 25% increase to damage per bounce.
    • Now uses the Any Evil Flask recipe group.
  • 1.4.2.107: Projectiles are now briefly invisible upon spawning.
  • 1.4.2.101:
    • True melee hits now inflict Poisoned for 10 seconds and now inflict Venom for 5 seconds instead of 3.

  • 1.2.3.001: Lowered the brightness of projectiles.
  • 1.1.7.901: Beam no longer idly produces dust.
  • 1.1.6.15:
    • Nerfed damage from 75 to 47, but buffed knockback from 5.25 to 5.75.
    • No longer uses 1 Broken Hero Sword in its recipes.
  • 1.1.5.093: Projectiles now use dust ID 74 instead of 44.
  • 1.1.4.46: Now uses 3 Deathweed, 5 Flasks of Poison, and 5 Flasks of Cursed Flames or Ichor in its recipe instead of 10 Deathweed, 20 Vials of Venom, and 2 Lava Buckets.
