Use
The Caustic Edge is a craftable Hardmode broadsword and the direct upgrade to the Tainted Blade. When swung, it fires a green-purple sword beam that can bounce or pierce twice, but loses 50% velocity on each bounce or enemy hit. The sword beam deals 75% of the weapon's damage. The sword and beams inflict the Acid Venom debuff.
Its best modifier is Legendary.

- 2.0.4.001:
- Buffed knockback from 5.5 to 6, but nerfed shot speed from 16 to 12.
- True melee hits now inflict Acid Venom for 3 seconds instead of 2.5.
- Projectiles now deal 75% base damage, inflict Acid Venom for 1 second instead of 1.5, and lose 50% velocity on enemy and tile hits.
- Improved the dust visuals of its projectiles. Projectiles now oscillate in size as they travel, alternate between green and purple, and have slight transparency.
- 2.0.3.005: No longer inflicts Poisoned.
