- If you were looking for something other than the launcher, see Hive (disambiguation).
The Hive is a Hardmode launcher that is dropped by The Plaguebringer Goliath. When used, it fires a spread of 4 short-ranged plague missiles that explode on impact with tiles or enemies, each releasing 2 homing plague bees. Holding down the fire button will charge the weapon, narrowing the spread of the missiles while increasing their velocity and range. The weapon will become fully charged after 1.5 seconds, indicated by a sound effect and red flash, and it will instead fire a high-velocity plague nuke that causes a massive explosion on hit, dealing 1000% of the weapon's damage and releasing 20 homing plague bees.
Its best modifier is Unreal.
Notes
- Using Cluster Rockets as ammo increases the number of bees from missiles from 2 to 3, but decreases their damage from 30% to 20%. The number of bees from nukes also increases from 20 to 30, but their damage is decreased from 40% to 30%.
- In the Get fixed boi seed, the number of bees from nukes increases from 20 to 100, and 30 to 150 with Cluster Rockets.
- The nuke also plays one of 11 sounds of various developers saying "bees" upon exploding.
- The Moon Lord's core takes only 80% damage from The Hive's nukes.
- Duke Fishron takes 120% damage from The Hive's plague bees.
Trivia
- This weapon is a reference to a rocket launcher of a similar name from Borderlands 2.
