The Plague Tainted SMG is a craftable Hardmode gun. When used with its primary fire (left-click), it converts all bullets fired into bullets that inflict the Plague debuff for 1.25 seconds and deal 50% more damage and knockback when the target is within 50 tiles range of the user. Critical hits from plague bullets will summon a homing drone from the player which explodes upon collision with an enemy or surface and has a 75% chance to critically strike if the Plague debuff is applied to the target. Using its secondary fire (right-click), it fires a spread of six drones outwards from the gun.

Its best modifier is Unreal.

History

These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
  • 2.0.3.007: Fixed its tooltip still saying that drones are guaranteed to critically strike enemies inflicted with Plague.
  • 2.0.3.006:
    • Bullets now inflict Plague for 1.25 seconds instead of 1.
    • Drones now have a 75% chance to critically strike an enemy inflicted with Plague instead of being guaranteed.
  • 2.0.3.005:
    • Nerfed damage from 85 to 76, and use time from 10 to 12.
    • Decreased bullet's maximum damage multiplier based on distance from 1.5x to 1.4x, and they now inflict Plague for 1 second instead of 2.
    • Drone explosions now deal 40% base damage.
    • Drone's ability to always critically strike an enemy inflicted with Plague is now disabled if the player has Alchemical Flask or Daawnlight Spirit Origin equipped.
  • 2.0.3.002: Fixed bullets not scaling in damage as the target is closer in range, and instead always dealing 150% damage as long as the target is in the minimal range.
