The Poseidon typhoons homing in, ricocheting off blocks, and lingering on a Super Dummy.

The Poseidon is a Hardmode spell tome that is dropped by the Giant Clam mini boss. It shoots a circular Poseidon typhoon sigil that inflicts the Eutrophication debuff while homing in on enemies, lingering on top of them for a short duration, repeatedly dealing damage until it dissipates. Poseidon typhoons will pierce up to 5 times, dissipating on the sixth hit. Poseidon typhoons will also rebound off of blocks 9 times before disappearing.

Its best modifier is Mythical.

Notes

• This weapon can also be obtained from Sunken Crates in Hardmode after the Giant Clam has been defeated.
• Due to the slow-moving nature of the projectiles fired from the weapon, it is not recommended to use the Poseidon against fast moving bosses, such as The Twins. It is best utilized against large groups of enemies, multiple segmented enemies, or singular slow-moving targets.

Trivia

• The name of the weapon is a reference to Poseidon, the Greek god of the Sea and other waters.
  • The shape depicted on the item and its projectiles resembles a trident, Poseidon's signature weapon.

• 2.0.3.003:
  • Nerfed damage from 62 to 52, use time from 45 to 49, and shot speed from 20 to 18.
  • Typhoon projectiles now always pierce 5 times instead of randomly piercing 3-9 times, and last 4.5 seconds instead of 5.
  • Typhoon projectiles now home in on enemies faster, and now grant 40 local immunity frames.

• 2.0.2.001:
  • Now inflicts Eutrophication for 3 seconds.
  • Decreased sell price from 7  20 to 4  80 .
