The Evil Smasher is a Hardmode broadsword that is obtained by breaking 12 Demon Altars or Crimson Altars. Upon killing an enemy, the weapon gains 10% increased damage, attack speed and knockback. This stacks up to 10 times. Using another item will remove the stacks. Getting hit by an enemy will remove 1 stack.

Its best modifier is Legendary.

These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
  • No longer has a 200% size modifier.
  • Now drops after every 12 altars broken instead of every 3.
    • Nerfed damage from 125 to 100.
    • Now drops from breaking 3 Altars instead of dropping from Wall of Flesh at a 100% Malice Mode chance.
  • Fixed an outdated line in its tooltip.
    • Buffed damage from 55 to 125, but nerfed use time from 29 to 37 and knockback from 8 to 6.
    • No longer spawns rock spikes on enemy hits or has a random chance for its stats to double. It now gains 10% increased damage, attack speed and knockback per enemy defeated with it up to 10 defeats. If the player uses another item, all stacks are removed. If the player is hit by an enemy, one stack will be removed.
    • Now drops from Wall of Flesh in Malice Mode instead of Basilisks in all difficulties. Increased drop rate from 0.5% to 100% Malice Mode.
    • Now has a custom - Challenge Item - (#FF8C00 ●) tag instead of using the Rarity level: Rare Variant rarity.
    • Resprited.
    • Fixed spike not benefitting from increased all-class damage.
    • Swing now functions in PvP.
