The Frequency Manipulator is a craftable Hardmode javelin. When used, the player winds up a javelin around them before throwing, spawning four homing energy outwards from each enemy that is hit and pierces up to three times. Colliding with tiles will break the javelin but also release the homing energy before it is killed.

Performing a stealth strike with the Frequency Manipulator causes the resulting javelin to deal 90% damage and massively increase its area of effect.

The weapon consumes 0.04 units of charge per use and has a maximum charge of 85. As such, the weapon can be used continuously from full charge 2125 times, or for 32 minutes and 27 seconds.

Its best modifier is Flawless.



The Frequency Manipulator cannot be crafted until the Encrypted Schematic from the Space Bio-center Lab is decrypted. If the requirement has not been met, two lines of tooltip are added at the bottom of the item:

These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
    • Now pierces once instead of three times, reduced energies spawned from 4 to 3, and energies now last 4 seconds instead of 6.
    • Now grants 45 ID-static immunity frames.
  • Removed the period from the first line of its tooltip.
    • Stealth strikes now have a 90% damage modifier.
    • Now uses 10 Any Mythril Bars in its recipe instead of 10 Hallowed Bars.
    • Fixed an issue that caused it to lose its charge when reforged.
  • Buffed damage from 67 to 80 and halved charge-up duration.
    • Decreased total charge consumed per-use from 0.125 to 0.04, and prevented its charge up from being interrupted.
    • Fixed an oversight where it was not properly classified as a javelin.
    • Fixed a spelling error in its tooltip saying "releases" instead of "release".
  • Depletion of charge is no longer random, it now consumes 0.125 charge on every use.
  • Fixed it not being classified as a javelin.
