Coral Spout attacking a Target Dummy by charging a tight spread of coral spikes and sticking a large chunk of blue coral. Note the damage and charge speed becoming more powerful after collecting the mana-charged coral.

The Coral Spout is a craftable Pre-Hardmode spell tome. It fires out a spread of five pink coral spikes that travel a short distance before exploding, dealing damage to enemies. Additionally, Coral Spout can also be charged up to decrease the spread of the coral spikes. When charged for 1.25 seconds, the coral spike projectiles will be replaced with a light blue coral chunk. Coral chunks travel much farther and at a higher velocity. When a coral chunk hits an enemy, it will stick to that enemy for 3 seconds before falling off. After falling off of an enemy, coral chunks will linger for 5.5 seconds, and can be recovered by the player to restore 150 mana.

Additionally, recovering a coral chunk will grant the player the Coral Symbiosis buff for 8 seconds, which causes the Coral Spout to charge up 1.25x as fast and deal 2 extra damage.

Its best modifier is Mythical.

History

These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
  • 2.0.3.003: Fixed its holdout making the player's arm draw incorrectly.
  • 2.0.1.001:
    • Buffed damage from 7 to 8, increased the amount of mana replenished from the coral chunk from 100 to 150, and maximum damage modifier when charged up from 3x to 6x
    • Additionally, when picking up a coral chunk, the player is now granted the Coral Symbiosis buff, which increases the damage of projectiles and causes it to charge up 1.25x as fast.
  • 2.0.0.001:
    • Reworked:
      • Nerfed damage from 17 to 7.
      • No longer continuously fires out gravity-affected coral spike projectiles, and instead, when used, will fire out a spread of five pink coral spikes that travel a short distance before exploding.
      • Additionally, it can also be charged up to decrease the spread of the coral spikes.
      • When charged for 1.25 seconds, the coral spike projectiles will be replaced with a light blue coral chunk. Coral chunks travel much farther and at a higher velocity.
      • When a coral chunk hits an enemy, it will stick to the enemy for 3 seconds before falling off. After falling off of an enemy, coral chunks can be recovered by the player to restore 100 mana.
      • Coral chunks will only linger after falling off of an enemy for 5.5 seconds.
      • Sound cues will also play when charging up the weapon, when it is fully charged, and when coral chunks fall off of enemies.
    • Resprited.
  • 1.4.3.001: Now requires a Bookcase to craft instead of an Anvil.
  • 1.4.2.102: Nerfed use time from 17 to 25, and knockback from 2.5 to 2.
  • 1.4.2.101: Corals now pierce 4 times instead of infinitely.
  • 1.1.5:
    • Remade projectiles to resemble water instead of coral.
