The SHPC (or Super Heated Plasma Cannon) is a craftable Hardmode magic gun. Its primary fire launches a set of energy balls that explode on impact with walls or enemies, dealing damage repeatedly in a large radius. These projectiles rapidly lose velocity and float in mid-air; if left untouched, they will explode on their own after several seconds. Holding right-click fires a volley of beams with very high velocity and rate of fire, similar to the Laser Machinegun.

Its best modifier is Mythical.




  • Aquatic Scourge takes only 50% damage from the SHPC's explosions.
  • As its primary fire has a very large radius and gives off a significant amount of light, it can also be used to efficiently light caves and other dark areas.
  • The primary fire is subject to piercing invulnerability, meaning that enemies will take as much damage from standing in one explosion as they would in three. Due to this, its relatively slow rate of fire, and the limited range of its projectiles, the primary fire is often less effective than the secondary fire in open spaces.

    • Nerfed damage from 22 to 18.
    • Now crafted from a Prototype Plasma Drive Core, 4 Suspicious Scraps, and 10 Any Mythril Bars at a Hardmode Anvil instead of being dropped by The Destroyer in Malice Mode.

  • Fixed it dropping from the Destroyer's Treasure Bag in all difficulties.
  • Now drops from Treasure Bag instead of directly from The Destroyer.
  • Decreased drop rate from 10% Revengeance Mode to 1% Revengeance Mode.
  • Now Revengeance Mode-exclusive, and drops at a 10% Revengeance Mode chance instead of a 2% / 2.5% Expert Mode chance.
    • Buffed damage from 11 to 16, and shot speed from 16 to 20.
    • SHPBs deal 110% base damage instead of 100%.
    • Now only drops from The Destroyer, but increased drop chance from 0.2% / 0.22% Expert Mode in Prehardmode, 0.33% / 0.4% Expert Mode in Hardmode, and 2% / 2.5% Expert Mode post-Moon Lord to 2% / 2.5% Expert Mode at all times.
    • Damage and knockback no longer scale with progression, and right click ability is no longer nerfed before defeating The Destroyer.
    • Increased drop chance from The Destroyer from 0.01% to 0.2% / 0.22% Expert Mode in pre-Hardmode, 0.02% / 0.022% Expert Mode to 0.33% / 0.4% Expert Mode in Hardmode, and 0.1% / 0.13% Expert Mode to 2% / 2.5% Expert Mode post-Moon Lord.
    • Increased drop chance from normal enemies from 0.0002% to 0.001% during pre-Hardmode, 0.0004% to 0.002% in Hardmode, and 0.001% to 0.004% post-Moon Lord.
    • Nerfed damage multipliers from 1.25x to 1.1x after defeating King Slime, 2x to 1.3x after defeating Eye of Cthulhu, 2.75x to 1.5x after defeating Eater of Worlds or Brain of Cthulhu, 3.25x to 1.7x after defeating Queen Bee, 3.75x to 1.9x after defeating Skeletron, 4.75x to 2.1x after defeating Wall of Flesh, 4.85x to 2.2x after defeating Plantera, 5x to 2.3x after defeating Golem, 8.5x to 3.3x after defeating Lunatic Cultist, 13.5x to 5.3x after defeating Moon Lord, 20.5x to 8.3x after defeating Providence, 23.5x to 10.3x after defeating Devourer of Gods, and 103.5x to 25.3x after defeating Yharon.

  • Decreased damage boosts gained after defeating Lunatic Cultist, Moon Lord, Providence, and Devourer of Gods, and increased damage boost gained after defeating Yharon.
  • Decreased drop chance from bosses after defeating Moon Lord from 0.5% / 0.66% Expert Mode to 0.2% / 0.25% Expert Mode.
    • Nerfed base damage from 15 to 11.
    • Increased damage boosts after defeating Lunatic Cultist, Moon Lord, Providence, Devourer of Gods, and Yharon.
    • Decreased drop chance from normal enemies in Hardmode from 0.001% to 0.0004%, and post-Moon Lord from 0.005% to 0.001%.
    • Decreased drop chance from bosses after defeating Moon Lord from 0.66% / 1% Expert Mode to 0.5% / 0.66% Expert Mode.
    • Fixed explosions not dealing magic damage.
    • Changed drop chance from normal enemies from 0.002% at all times to 0.0002% in pre-Hardmode, 0.001% in Hardmode, and 0.005% post-Moon Lord.
    • Changed drop chance from bosses from 0.002% at all times to 0.02% / 0.025% Expert Mode in pre-Hardmode, 0.1% / 0.125% Expert Mode in Hardmode, and 0.66% / 1% Expert Mode post-Moon Lord.
  • Now uses vanilla's built-in bools to alter stats instead of custom ones.
  • Explosions now grant local immunity frames instead of global immunity frames when hitting enemies.
