The Galaxy Smasher is a craftable post-Moon Lord melee weapon that is an upgrade to the Stellar Contempt. It throws a fast gravity-affected hammer which passes through tiles. Upon hitting an enemy, it slows down and starts returning to its user, capable of piercing infinitely on its return. Each hit reduces the damage of subsequent hits by 10%. Initial hits leading up the eighth strike gain an increasingly higher pitched hit sound and summons one additional smaller clone of itself around the target which deal 10% of the weapon's damage. Every eight successful strikes launches itself forwards instead of returning to the player. The hammer then supercharges, increasing in size and homes into an enemy after 0.92 seconds. The supercharged hammer deals 1000% of the weapon's damage and explodes on hit, intensely shaking the screen and dealing an additional 500% of the weapon's damage to all enemies in a colossal radius.

Its best modifier is Godly. It cannot get modifiers that affect size.

These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
  • 2.0.3.007: Fixed its damage falloff applying to the initial hit.
  • 2.0.3.003: Fixed it not having decreased volume on its charge sound.
  • 2.0.3.002: Echo hammers now take 0.7 seconds to begin homing instead of 0.92, and now decelerate more heavily as they are spawned. Adjusted their backup homing motion to be faster.
  • 2.0.3.001:
    • Reworked:
      • Buffed damage from 300 to 1300, knockback from 9 to 14, and shot speed from 18 to 30, but nerfed use time from 13 to 40.
      • No longer throws a hammer that functions like a boomerang and spawns nebula lasers on hits.
      • Now throws a fast hammer that spawns mini hammers and returns to the player on enemy hits. The more hits landed, the more mini hammers are spawned.
      • After landing a hit with the hammer seven times, an echo hammer is spawned which charges up before quickly homing in, dealing 10x base damage and exploding on hit, and the hit counter is reset.
  • 2.0.2.001: Nebula lasers now inflict God Slayer Inferno for 3 seconds instead of On Fire! And Frostburn.
  • 2.0.1.002:
    • Buffed damage from 264 to 300.
    • Decreased sell price from 36 Gold Coin to 28 Gold Coin.
  • 1.5.0.001:
    • Now exclusively deals melee damage.
    • Nerfed damage from 480 to 264.
