The Voltaic Climax being used against three Super Dummies. Note that the orbs can pass through blocks but cannot target enemies through them.

The Voltaic Climax is a craftable post-Moon Lord wand. When used, it summons a circular spread of 9 tile-ignoring magnetic orbs around the cursor that spread out before stopping. Each orb fires one electric beam consecutively that pierces infinitely when dealing more than 1 damage, and inflicts the Electrified debuff. The orbs cannot target enemies through tiles.

Its best modifier is Mythical.

  • The Voltaic Climax has great potential against bosses, as the sheer size of bosses can allow all eight orbs to fire upon them at once.


These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
    • Buffed damage from 104 to 235 and use time from 33 to 29, but nerfed mana cost from 30 to 32.
    • Now fires 9 orbs per shot instead of 8. Increased orb target range from 40 tiles to 50, but each orb only fires one beam in consecutive order.
    • Beams now pierce infinitely until dealing more than 1 damage instead of hitting once, and now inflict Electrified for 1.5 seconds.
    • Increased sell price from 28 Gold Coin to 40 Gold Coin.
  • Nerfed damage from 123 to 104, but increased orb attack range from 25 tiles to 40.
    • Nerfed damage from 122 to 100.
    • Now uses 8 Darksun Fragments in its recipe instead of 5 Auric Bars.
    • Now uses the Rarity Level: 14 rarity instead of Rarity Level: 15, and decreased sell price accordingly.
    • Nerfed damage from 131 to 122.
    • Magnetic orbs now fire beams 50% less often and now linger for 0.8 seconds instead of 2.5.
    • Beam projectiles now travel 50% further and can pass through tiles.
    • Now uses 5 Auric Bars in its recipe instead of 15 Darksun Fragments, and now requires a Cosmic Anvil to craft instead of a Draedon's Forge.
    • Buffed damage from 80 to 131, but orbs now shoot electric beams half as fast.
    • Fixed projectiles interfering with enemy immunity frames.
    • Nerfed damage from 90 to 80, and use time from 30 to 33.
    • Increased the maximum range that magnet orbs can fire projectiles from.
    • Now uses the Rarity Level: 15 rarity instead of Rarity Level: 14.
    • Fixed dust visuals on rays.
  • Now uses 15 Darksun Fragments in its recipe instead of 10.
  • Projectiles now last 2.5 seconds instead of 3.
  • Projectiles now last 3 seconds instead of 4.
  • Projectiles now last 4 seconds instead of 4.5.
