The Aegis Blade is a Hardmode broadsword that drops from Golem. When used with its primary fire (left-click), it will swing and deal contact damage in a regular manner. Upon striking an enemy, a medium-sized stationary flame explosion is produced, capable of damaging the target 6 more times, each dealing 5% less damage, before dissipating. When used with its secondary fire (right-click), the broadsword itself will not deal damage but will instead shoot a fireball that deals 85% of the weapon's damage. The fireball explodes into 3 flaming sparks on contact with a tile or enemy, dealing 75% of the fireball's damage. The sparks do not pierce and can linger on the ground for 2 seconds before disappearing. If a spark hits an enemy, it spawns a small flame explosion that deals 75% of the spark's damage.

Its best modifier is Legendary.


  • Only the left-click attack receives true melee boosts.


  • Aegis is the name of Athena's and Zeus' shield from Greek mythology.

    • Nerfed damage from 135 to 108, and alt fire explosions now last 5 frames instead of 60.

    • Now only drops from Golem, but increased drop chance from 0.2% / 0.22% Expert Mode in Prehardmode, 0.33% / 0.4% Expert Mode in Hardmode, and 2% / 2.5% Expert Mode post-Moon Lord to 2% / 2.5% Expert Mode at all times.
    • Damage and knockback no longer scale with progression, and right click ability is no longer nerfed before defeating Golem.
    • Increased drop chance from Golem from 0.01% to 0.2% / 0.22% Expert Mode in pre-Hardmode, 0.02% / 0.022% Expert Mode to 0.33% / 0.4% Expert Mode in Hardmode, and 0.1% / 0.13% Expert Mode to 2% / 2.5% Expert Mode post-Moon Lord.
    • Increased drop chance from normal enemies from 0.0002% to 0.001% during pre-Hardmode, 0.0004% to 0.002% in Hardmode, and 0.001% to 0.004% post-Moon Lord.
  • Nerfed damage multipliers from 1.25x to 1.1x after defeating King Slime, 1.5x to 1.2x after defeating Eye of Cthulhu, 1.75x to 1.3x after defeating Eater of Worlds or Brain of Cthulhu, 2.25x to 1.5x after defeating Queen Bee, 2.75x to 1.7x after defeating Skeletron, 4.25x to 2.05x after defeating Wall of Flesh, 4.75x to 2.25x after defeating The Twins, 5.25x to 2.45x after defeating The Destroyer, 5.75x to 2.65x after defeating Skeletron Prime, 6.75x to 3x after defeating Plantera, 10x to 5x after defeating Lunatic Cultist, 14x to 7x after defeating Moon Lord, 18x to 9x after defeating Providence, 22x to 11x after defeating Devourer of Gods, and 82x to 21x after defeating Yharon.
  • Reduced damage boosts gained after defeating Lunatic Cultist, Moon Lord, Providence, and Devourer of Gods, and increased damage boost gained after defeating Yharon.
    • Projectiles no longer deal 25% damage to The Devourer of Gods' head and tail.
    • Decreased drop chance from bosses after defeating Moon Lord from 0.5% / 0.66% Expert Mode to 0.2% / 0.25% Expert Mode.
    • Nerfed base damage from 12 to 9.
    • Increased post-Yharon damage boost.
    • Decreased drop chance from normal enemies in Hardmode from 0.001% to 0.0004%, and post-Moon Lord from 0.005% to 0.001%.

    • Changed drop chance from bosses from 0.002% at all times to 0.02% / 0.025% Expert Mode in pre-Hardmode, 0.1% / 0.125% Expert Mode in Hardmode, and 0.66% / 1% Expert Mode post-Moon Lord.
  • Now uses vanilla's built-in bools to alter stats instead of custom ones.
  • Explosions now grant local immunity frames instead of global immunity frames when hitting enemies.
  • True melee swings and alt fire's bolts now split into 2-3 flames instead of 3-4.
  • All projectiles now deal 25% damage to The Devourer of Gods.
