The Gauss Dagger is a craftable Pre-Hardmode broadsword. When swung, it spawns a rotating energy flux on enemy hits when the enemy is struck twice. The flux repeatedly deals the base damage of the weapon to enemies that come into contact with it for 3 seconds.

The weapon consumes 0.05 units of charge per use and has a maximum charge of 50. As such, the weapon can be used continuously from full charge 1000 times, or for 6 minutes and 23 seconds.

Its best modifier is Legendary.

The Gauss Dagger cannot be crafted until the Schematic from the Sunken Sea Bio-center Lab is found. If the requirement has not been met, two lines of tooltip are added at the bottom of the item:

The Sunken Sea schematic must be deciphered first

Notes

  • The flux's damage is unaffected by melee damage boosts.

History

These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
  • 2.0.4.001:
    • Now spawns a gauss flux on every hit with a 0.83 second cooldown, but gauss flux now grants 15 ID-static immunity frames instead of 10.
    • No longer has a 150% size modifier.
    • No longer deals half damage if a true melee hit critically strikes.
  • 1.5.1.001:
    • Now uses 7 Sea Prisms in its recipe instead of 4 Meteorite Bars.
    • Removed the period from the first line of its tooltip.
  • 1.5.0.001:
    • Nerfed damage from 30 to 20.
    • Gauss Flux aura now deals 50% damage if it critically hits.
    • Now grants enemies ID-static immunity frames instead of local immunity frames.
    • Fixed an issue that caused it to lose its charge when reforged.
    • Fixed an issue that allowed its aura damage to scale exponentially.
  • 1.4.5.006:
    • Gave it a 150% size modifier.
    • The player can now turn while using it.
  • 1.4.5.003:
    • On-hit effects now proc every 2 hits instead of 3.
    • Depletion of charge is no longer random, it now consumes 0.05 charge on every use.
