The Shattered Sun is a craftable post-Moon Lord non-consumable dagger that is an upgrade to the Radiant Star. It shoots an infinitely piercing dagger that is not affected by gravity and can pass through walls. Upon hitting an enemy, it creates an explosion that inflicts Holy Flames and deals 45% of the dagger's damage. Shortly after it is thrown, it splits into 5 homing Scorching Daggers that does not pierce through enemies or solid tiles. Scorching Daggers deal 75% of the dagger's damage.

Performing a stealth strike with the Shattered Sun, when the resulting Scorched Blades hit an enemy, causes 10 more Scorching Daggers to spawn at the player's position which deal 41.25% damage each. Additionally, the main dagger and split daggers suck enemies in, and gain the ability to travel through tiles.

Its best modifier is Flawless.

Used in

The Shattered Sun's projectiles splitting, homing, and inflicting the Holy Flames debuff. Note that normal strikes' split daggers cannot pass through walls.

History

These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
  • 1.5.1.001:
    • Stealth strike dagger now pulls in nearby enemies.
    • No longer considered a fire weapon.
  • 1.5.0.001:
    • Nerfed damage from 82 to 75.
    • Damage no longer scales with distance.
    • Explosions now deal 55% base damage instead of 70%.
  • 1.4.3.001:
    • Now has a stealth strike effect.
    • Reworked:
      • Buffed damage from 60 to 82 but nerfed use time from 11 to 12.
      • Buffed main dagger pierce from 2 to 3.
      • Now splits once into a random spread of 5 daggers instead of splitting twice each into a spread of 2 daggers.
      • Splitting daggers no longer cause an explosion on hit and the initial wave of splitting daggers can no longer pierce.
      • Splitting daggers now deal less damage the longer it has travelled and also inflict Holy Flames for 3 seconds.
      • The initial wave of split daggers will now home into enemies instead of the final split daggers gaining homing abilities.
      • Increased time taken to split from 0.2 seconds to 0.33.
      • Nerfed main dagger on-hit explosion damage from 100% to 15%.
      • Buffed homing dagger damage from 50% to 80%.
    • Now counts as a fire weapon.
    • Resprited it and Scorching Daggers.
    • Daggers and explosion now function in PvP.
