The Meowthrower is a Hardmode flamethrower that is dropped by the Wall of Flesh. Like other flamethrowers, it uses gel as ammunition. It shoots blue and pink flames at a short range and with a slight spread, which pierce twice. It additionally fires cat projectiles which home in on nearby enemies. Upon hitting an enemy, an aesthetic burst of flame occurs, and it makes a meowing sound.

Its best modifier is Unreal.

  • This weapon is themed around Meowmere, sharing its pink and blue cat aesthetic and its meow sound effects.
  • The weapon's fire projectile is named "Purr Fire", and its cat projectile is named "the creature :3".


These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
    • Nerfed knockback from 1.25 to 0.4.
    • Cat entities now home towards the closest enemy instead of the earliest enemy in the NPC array.

    • Flames now travel slightly farther, and now grant 10 ID-static immunity frames instead of 8 global immunity frames, but now pierce 4 times instead of infinitely.
  • No longer inflicts On Fire! or Frostburn.
  • Now correctly mentions its ammo consumption chance.

    • Adjusted holdout offset.
  • Reworded tooltip to say "50% chance to not consume gel" instead of "Consumes gel at a 50% chance".
    • Flames now last 1.5 seconds instead of 1.
    • Changed its tooltip.
  • Flames now set NPC immunity frames to 8.
  • Flames no longer collide with blocks.
  • Fixed fire interacting strangely with tiles.
