The Elemental Ray is a craftable post-Moon Lord wand that is a direct upgrade to the Terra Ray. It fires four unique beams behind the player, all aiming towards the mouse cursor, each of which behave differently:

  • Solar beams explode on every enemy hit.
  • Nebula beams initially aim towards the mouse, but they immediately sweep in a short clockwise arc before disappearing.
  • Vortex beams resemble lightning bolts. They do not pierce and are slightly inaccurate.
  • Stardust beams spawn 2 slow, slightly homing Stardust Bolts upon being fired, and have a chance to spawn another 4 every time it hits an enemy.

All beams will inflict the Elemental Mix debuff on hit enemies.

Its best modifier is Mythical.

Notes

  • Both this weapon and the Terra Ray only require one or two weapon components, making this a fairly simple weapon to craft for its tier.

History

These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
  • 2.0.3.007: Now inflicts Elemental Mix for 0.5 seconds.
  • 2.0.2.001:
    • No longer inflicts any debuffs.
    • Moved Galactica Singularity below Life Alloy in its recipe.
  • 1.5.1.001:
    • Explosions now inflict On Fire! for 3 seconds instead of 5.
    • Moved Terra Ray to the top of the recipe.
  • 1.5.0.003:
    • Explosions no longer deal 30% base damage, but now grant 600 local immunity frames instead of 10.
    • Fixed an issue that prevented it from firing its Stardust Beam if the weapon had a speed modifier.
  • 1.5.0.001:
    • Nerfed damage from 120 to 90.
    • Reworked, it no longer fires beams that produce split beams that target nearby enemies. When used, it now fires a Solar, Vortex, Nebula, and Stardust beam. Solar beams explode on hits, vortex beams travel like lightning and inflict Electrified, nebula beams sweep slightly, and stardust beams inflict Celled and spawn homing stars on hits.
    • No longer inflicts Glacial State and now inflicts Frostburn for 2 seconds.
  • 1.4.3.002:
    • Nerfed damage from 150 to 120, and use time from 16 to 20.
    • Split beams now deal 70% main beam damage instead of 100%.
    • Fixed dust visuals on rays.
  • 1.4.2.102:
    • Now inflicts Brimstone Flames, Glacial State, Holy Flames, and Plague.
    • Added a tooltip.
  • 1.2.0.001: Buffed damage from 99 to 230, and use time from 22 to 16.
  • 1.1.7.901:
    • Beam now produces more dust, and its dust is larger.
    • Removed tooltip "Fires a beam of cosmic energy that can split into additional beams. Enemies must be near for the beam to split".
  • 1.1.7.701:
    • Now uses the Rarity Level: 12 rarity instead of Rarity Level: 10.
    • Resprited.
  • 1.1.7.5: Now requires an Ancient Manipulator to craft instead of a Hardmode Anvil.
  • 1.1.7:
    • Nerfed damage from 115 to 95.
    • Main beam now lasts 3 seconds instead of 2, and primary split beams now last 0.5 seconds instead of 0.17.
    • Split beams now deal 100% main beam damage instead of 85%.
    • Split beams now produce more split beams 3x less frequently.
