The Apoctosis Array is a craftable post-Moon Lord magic gun that is a direct upgrade to the Ion Blaster. Like its predecessor, it fires ion blasts that continuously accelerate with their damage depending on the user's current mana level. The projectile damage is multiplied by 0.2 added to 1.4 times of the player's mana ratio, dealing 20% damage at 0 mana and 160% damage at full mana. Additionally, the projectile size is multiplied by 0.75 added to 0.75 times of the player's mana ratio, being 75% size at 0 mana and 150% size at full mana. Having the Astral Injection buff caps the maximum damage multiplier at 111% and size at 123.75%.

Its best modifier is Mythical.

The player continuously firing shots which shrink in size and damage due to having less and less mana.


  • The ion blasts shrink in size as their damage decreases.
  • The word apoctosis is likely a reference to the term apoptosis, or programmed cell death, which occurs as a normal, controlled part of an organism's growth.
    • Apoptosis comes from the Ancient Greek word ἀπόπτωσις, which means falling off. This is likely where the effect or etymology of the weapon comes from.


These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
  • No longer inflicts Brimstone Flames.
    • Buffed damage from 55 to 99.
    • Damage scaling is now based on how full the player's maximum mana is instead of how high the player's mana is. Maximum projectile damage is 160%, minimum projectile damage is 20%. Using Astral Injection will cap its maximum damage at 111%.
    • Buffed damage from 45 to 55, and mana cost from 14 to 12.
    • Now uses 5 Luminite Bars in its recipe instead of 10.
    • Nerfed damage from 50 to 45, and mana cost from 12 to 14.
    • Now deals 40% less damage while the player has the Astral Injection buff.
  • Blasts' explosion now pierces infinitely and grants enemies 10 local immunity frames.
  • Buffed projectile velocity from 6 to 8.
  • Increased mana cost from 6 to 12, and reduced projectile size scaling with mana by 50%.
    • Now uses the Rarity Level: 12 rarity instead of Rarity Level: 10.
    • Resprited.
  • Now requires an Ancient Manipulator to craft instead of a Hardmode Anvil.
  • 1.1.7: Fixed a hold offset issue.
