The Abyss Blade is a craftable Hardmode melee weapon that is the direct upgrade to the Depth Crusher. When used, it throws a gravity-affected spinning abyssal sword that pierces infinitely. Upon colliding with a tile, the sword rapidly launches itself towards a nearby enemy and deal 200% damage, and spawn 6 homing water energy particles which each deal 30% damage. Both the launched sword and water energy partcles can pass through tiles and do not pierce.

Its best modifier is Godly. It cannot get modifiers that affect size.

These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
    • Reworked:
      • Buffed damage from 130 to 140, but nerfed use time from 18 to 65, knockback from 8 to 7.5, and shot speed from 9 to 3.
      • No longer fires a short-range trident projectile on swing.
      • Now throws a spinning sword which can pierce through enemies.
      • When the sword hits a tile, it spawns homing water energies that inflict Crush Depth for 2 seconds, and will launch at high speed towards the nearest enemy, hitting once. The sword deals 200% base damage after launching.
    • Buffed damage from 110 to 130, and use time from 26 to 18.
    • Projectiles now pierce twice.
  • Projectiles now have an extra update, and last 0.625 seconds instead of 0.5.
    • Now uses 20 Voidstone and 20 Depth Cells in its recipe instead of Broken Hero Sword, 15 Depth Cells, 10 Lumenyl, and 5 Tenebris.
    • Decreased sell price from 12 Gold Coin to 9 Gold Coin.png 60 Silver Coin.png.
    • Tridents now always inflict Crush Depth for 2 seconds instead of for 3 seconds at a 50% chance.
    • No longer considered a nature weapon.
    • Nerfed damage from 110 to 90, and tridents now deal 75% base damage instead of 100%.
    • Tridents now inflict Crush Depth for 3 seconds at a 50% chance instead of 5 seconds at a 100% chance.
  • Projectiles are now briefly invisible upon spawning.
    • Projectiles now use actual sprites instead of dusts.
    • Updated tooltip to reflect that it now fires tridents instead of water orbs.
    • Resprited.
    • Buffed damage from 100 to 110, and nerfed shot speed from 19 to 9.
    • Orbs now last 0.5 seconds instead of 5, and explode on death.
    • Added that it fires water orbs to tooltip.
  • Now uses 15 Depth Cells, 10 Lumenyl, and 5 Tenebris in its recipe instead of 5 Cores of Eleum.
  • Fired water orbs produce less dust.
    • Tweaked the lighting for orbs.

  • Buffed damage from 88 to 99, use time from 19 to 16, knockback from 7 to 8, and shot speed from 16 to 19.
