Gauss Rifle
The Gauss Rifle is a craftable Hardmode ranged weapon. When used, it fires a high velocity stream of blue particles, exploding on impact with an enemy or blocks. It consumes charge on use.
The weapon consumes 0.1125 units of charge per use and has a maximum charge of 135. As such, the weapon can be used continuously from full charge 1200 times, or for 10 minutes and 40 seconds.
Its best modifier is Unreal.

Recipe
The Gauss Rifle cannot be crafted until the Encrypted Schematic from the Jungle Bio-center Lab is decrypted. If the requirement has not been met, two lines of tooltip are added at the bottom of the item:

Trivia
- The Gauss Rifle is a reference to the weapon of the same name from the Fallout series and uses the same firing sound effect.
History
These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
- 2.0.1.001: Now uses 10 Infected Armor Plating in its recipe instead of 5.
- 1.5.1.001: Removed the period from the first line of its tooltip.
- 1.5.0.001: Fixed an issue that caused it to lose its charge when reforged.
- 1.4.5.006:
- Nerfed damage from 170 to 150, use time from 28 to 32, and hit cooldown from 8 to 12.
- Explosion now pierces infinitely but lasts for 15 frames.
- Dust particles are now much smaller.
- Fixed a bug that caused projectiles to immediately explode when fired behind corners and slopes.
- 1.4.5.003: Depletion of charge is no longer random, it now consumes 0.1125 charge on every use.
- 1.4.5.001: Introduced.
