The Plasma Rifle is a craftable post-Moon Lord magic gun. When used with its primary fire (left-click), it fires an explosive plasma blast that creates toxic clouds upon contact with an enemy or a tile which deal 30% of the weapon's damage. When used with its secondary fire (right-click), it rapidly fires plasma-like bullets that do not explode but deal double damage.

Its best modifier is Mythical.

These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
  • Left click toxic clouds now deal 30% base damage.
  • Increased sell price from 24 Gold Coin to 30 Gold Coin.
    • Nerfed damage from 160 to 150 but primary fire now deals 100% base damage instead of 88% and secondary fire now deals 200% base damage instead of 115%.
    • Decreased both firing types' velocity multipliers from 11 to 10.
  • Now uses Laser Rifle in its recipe instead of Musket or The Undertaker.
    • Moved Toxic Flask and Musket to the top of the recipe in order.
    • Resprited.
    • Nerfed damage from 183 to 160.
    • Gas clouds now deal 88% base damage instead of 85.71%.
  • Nerfed damage from 460 to 183, and alt fire mana cost from 5 to 10.

    • Both projectiles no longer produce light, now have 10 extra updates, and have had their dust tweaked.

  • Buffed damage from 320 to 350, and its primary projectile now deals 75% base damage instead of 65%.
    • Nerfed damage from 450 to 320.
    • Right click bolts now deal 64% base damage instead of 44%.
  • Nerfed main fire mana cost from 2 to 5, and alt fire mana cost from 20 to 40.
  • Plasma explosions now hit every 2 frames.
    • Buffed damage from 130 to 450.
    • Now requires an Ancient Manipulator to craft instead of a Hardmode Anvil.
    • Now uses the Rarity Level: 12 rarity instead of Rarity Level: 9.
    • Buffed damage from 10 to 130, use time from 79 to 39, and mana cost from 30 to 20.
    • Reintroduced right click ability.
