The Lazhar is a craftable Hardmode magic gun that is the upgraded version of Heat Ray. It rapidly fires explosive heat rays that create small explosions when hitting an enemy and do not pierce. Explosions deal 50% of the weapon's base damage and inflict the Daybroken debuff.

Its best modifier is Mythical. However, the weapon's mana cost will not be affected.

These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
  • 2.0.3.007: Nerfed damage from 80 to 76. Explosions now deal 50% base damage.
  • 2.0.2.001:
    • Nerfed damage from 100 to 80 and it no longer pierces.
    • Now inflicts Daybroken instead of On Fire!.
    • Now uses 6 Solar Fragments in its recipe instead of 10, and no longer uses 6 Chlorophyte Bars.
  • 2.0.1.001: Now uses Space Gun in its recipe instead of Any Zapinator.
  • 2.0.0.001: Now uses Any Zapinator in its recipe instead of Lazinator.
  • 1.5.1.001:
    • Decreased On Fire! duration from explosions from 5 seconds to 3.
    • No longer considered a fire weapon or nature weapon.
  • 1.5.0.003: Explosions no longer deal 30% base damage, but now grant 600 local immunity frames instead of 10.
  • 1.4.2.105: Explosions now use a custom projectile instead of the vanilla solar explosion projectile.
  • 1.3.4.101: Explosions now deal magic damage instead of melee damage.
  • 1.1.7.901: Removed tooltip "Fires a bouncing heat ray that explodes on enemy hits".
  • 1.1.7.851: Beams now set NPC immunity frames to 4.
  • 1.1.7.5: Now requires an Ancient Manipulator to craft instead of a Hardmode Anvil.
