The Recitation of the Beast is a craftable post-Moon Lord spell tome that is a direct upgrade to the Demon Scythe. It causes a ring of six homing Beast Scythes to appear around the player that then fly off in the direction of the player's cursor.

Its best modifier is Mythical.

Trivia

• The weapon is a reference to the spell card Great Magic "Devil's Recitation", used by the character Byakuren Hijiri from the Touhou Project series. In turn, the spell card itself is a reference to the Demon God Shinki from a much earlier game in the series, as it resembles the penultimate bullet pattern from her boss fight.

• 2.0.3.005: Buffed mana cost from 24 to 17.

• 2.0.2.001: No longer inflicts Brimstone Flames, Frostburn, On Fire!, or Shadowflame.

• 2.0.1.002: Decreased sell price from 36 to 28 .

• 1.5.1.001:
  • Now inflicts Shadowflame for 1.5 seconds instead of 5, Brimstone Flames for 2 seconds instead of 5, and Frostburn for 2.5 seconds instead of 5.
  • Resprited it and scythe projectile.

• 1.5.0.001:
  • Nerfed damage from 300 to 128.
  • No longer inflicts Glacial State and instead inflicts Frostburn for 5 seconds.
