The Evolution is a post-Moon Lord accessory that is dropped by the Ceaseless Void. Any projectile that strikes the player will be reflected. When a projectile is reflected, it will deal 10 times its original damage to any enemy it touches, and the player's life regen and lifeRegenTime stats will both be boosted by +2 for five seconds. This effect can only occur every 90 seconds.

Additionally, if the next projectile to hit the player is of the same type, the projectile will deal 15% less damage. This effect will only trigger once per projectile type. So, if the player were to get hit by three projectiles of the same type - reflecting the first - only the second projectile would deal 15% less damage.

Trivia

  • This accessory is a reference to the Evolution and Antagonist shields from Borderlands 2.
  • Unlike other accessories that use the 90 second dodge cooldown, the Adrenaline Meter will still be reset when The Evolution nullifies damage from an attack.

History

These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
  • 2.0.4.001:
    • Reflect no longer triggers if an attack deals less than 5% of the player's max health, and now has a varying cooldown based on how much damage was dodged, ranging from 15 seconds at 5% max health to 90 seconds at 50% max health.
    • Reflect now grants 80 immunity frames instead of 20, and is now affected by Cross Necklace.
    • Increased sell price from 24 Gold Coin to 30 Gold Coin.
  • 2.0.1.003: Fixed tooltip still saying that dodges have a 120 second cooldown instead of 90.
  • 2.0.1.002: Buffed reflect cooldown from 120 seconds to 90.
  • 1.5.1.001: Now drops from Ceaseless Void at a 100% chance in all difficulties instead of 100% Malice Mode.
  • 1.5.0.001:
    • Reflect is now guaranteed and grants 20 immunity frames, but triggers a 120 second global cooldown with other dodges and reflects.
    • Now drops from Ceaseless Void in Malice Mode instead of all difficulties. Increased drop rate from 2.5% to 100% Malice Mode.
    • Now has a custom - Challenge Item - (#FF8C00 ●) tag instead of using the Rarity level: Rare Variant rarity.
    • Resprited.
    • Fixed it having an incorrect sell value.
