Astrum Deus Probes were variants of the Astral Probe summoned by Astrum Deus.

The flying Astrum Deus Probes moved freely through the air and fired lasers at the player, similarly to the Probes spawned by The Destroyer. They differed from normal Astral Probes due to their greatly increased health and further increased damage reduction in Revengeance Mode.

The orbiting Astrum Deus Probes circled around the head of one of the Astrum Deus worms, typically in very large groups. If that worm was destroyed, they would immediately jump to another worm. They fired Astral MineAstral Mines into the air which lingered in place for a very long time, creating a minefield that had to be carefully navigated through or avoided entirely.

Notes

  • Probes that spawned in Astrum Deus's fight did not count toward the Astral Probe kill count and were not affected by the Banner buff.
  • Up to 3 of the Astrum Deus Probe flying variant could spawn at a time while any of the smaller Astrum Deus worms were alive. Up to 6 could spawn when only the main Astrum Deus worm was left.

  • 1.4.3.001:
    • Nerfed laser damage from 90 / 152 Expert Mode / 174 Death Mode to 90 / 152 Expert Mode.
    • Horizontally flipped both variants' sprites.
  • 1.4.2.106:
    • Buffed orbital variant's mine damage from 110 / 168 Expert Mode to 120 / 180 Expert Mode.

  • 1.4.2.104: Orbitting variant now inflicts Astral Infection for 2 seconds on contact instead of God Slayer Inferno for 1.5 seconds.

    • Flying variants now instantly despawn once Astrum Deus is no longer present.
  • 1.4.2.101: Flying variants now use astral hit sounds instead of NPCHit4.
  • 1.4.2.001: Nerfed flying variant's laser damage from 80 / 104 Expert Mode to 74 / 116 Expert Mode.
  • 1.4.1.003: Free variants now take up 2 NPC slots instead of 8.

    • Adjusted rotation code for orbitting variant.
    • Orbitting variant now fires mines more often.

    • Variants 1 and 2 now instantly despawn if Astrum Deus is defeated or despawns.
