The Irradiated Slime is a Hardmode slime that spawns during Tier 2 of the Acid Rain event. Rather than spawning like normal enemies, it gradually falls from the sky while the event is ongoing and can fall through platforms while doing so until it is at a similar height to the player.

Like most other slimes, the Irradiated Slime will be passive towards any player with the Royal Gel accessory equipped.


  • Irradiated Slimes' unique method of spawning is unaffected by things that affect NPC spawn rates, such as Water Candles, Battle Potions, and Calming Potions.
  • The Irradiated Slime will be replaced by the Gamma Slime after Polterghast has been defeated, making them impossible to encounter in that world after its defeat.
    • If their bestiary entry hasn't been fully unlocked yet, filling out the Gamma Slime's bestiary entry will automatically fill the Irradiated Slime's.
    • Their banner can be obtained by dropping the Gamma Slime's banner in shimmer.


  • The BestiaryBestiary entry for the Irradiated Slime: "Though slime is known to fall from the sky on occasion, slime in the sky condenses far quicker here in the Sulphurous Sea, as its air is thick with sulfur and radiation. It isn’t uncommon for full sized slimes to fall from the heavens during acid rain storms, never mind a fully-fledged slime rain."
  • Irradiated Slimes falling from the sky during the event is similar to normal slimes that fall during the Slime Rain event.


These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
    • Now has 25% less health and 10% less damage in Master Mode.
    • Nerfed knockback resistance from 100% to 50%.
    • No longer deals contact damage while not jumping.
  • Fixed its bestiary entry using the wrong apostrophe.
  • Now vulnerable to electricity debuffs, but resistant to water, sickness, and heat debuffs.
  • Decreased Irradiated duration from 5 seconds to 3.
  • Nerfed health from 425 / 680 Expert Mode to 220 / 440 Expert Mode and damage from 75 / 127 Expert Mode to 42 / 84 Expert Mode.
  • Nerfed health from 640 / 1024 Expert Mode to 425 / 680 Expert Mode.
  • Increased Lead Core drop chance from 1% to 3.33%.
    • Now has a glowmask.
    • Now exclusively spawns during the Acid Rain event.
    • Buffed health from 300 / 600 Expert Mode to 640 / 1024 Expert Mode, and damage from 50 / 100 Expert Mode to 75 / 127 Expert Mode.
    • Nerfed defense from 100 to 10.
    • Now pacified by Royal Gel.
    • Resprited.
    • Nerfed health from 3000 / 6000 Expert Mode to 300 / 600 Expert Mode, and damage from 500 / 1000 Expert Mode to 50 / 100 Expert Mode.
    • Decreased minimum coin drop count from 30 Silver Coin to 5 Silver Coin.
    • Now spawns at any point in the game instead of only after defeating Moon Lord.
    • Now produces light.
    • Now has gores.
    • Resprited.
  • Now only spawns at the Sulphurous Sea.
  • Decreased minimum coin drop amount from 5 Gold Coin to 30 Silver Coin.
    • Nerfed health from 5000 / 10,000 Expert Mode to 3000 / 6000 Expert Mode, damage from 1500 / 3000 Expert Mode to 500 / 1000 Expert Mode, and defense from 150 to 100.
    • Resprited.
  • Nerfed health from 8000 / 12,000 Expert Mode to 5000 / 10,000 Expert Mode, and buffed damage from 1500 / 2250 Expert Mode to 1500 / 3000 Expert Mode.
  • Decreased chance to drop Lead Core from 20% to 10%.
