Profaned Energy (Lantern) attached to the core

Profaned Energy is a post-Moon Lord enemy that spawns in both the Hallow and Underworld. It has a singular immobile core with two mobile lanterns protruding from it via chains. The lanterns move somewhat erratically, alternating between swooping in a radius around the core and attempting to hover around one location. The lanterns shoot large Holy BombHoly Bombs which drift to a stop, then emit one smaller Holy FlareHoly Flare every second up to a max of three until it depletes. Holy Flares slowly drift downward while swooping horizontally to hit the player. Both fireballs will remain active and functioning even after the Profaned Energy is killed.

  • The BestiaryBestiary entry for the Profaned Energy: "Those most devout to Her travel the world, being planted into societies and acting as spies and assassins. Among their duties is constructing shrines in Her honor infused with Her divine power, that She might bless pagans blinded by darkness with visions of Her new age of light."


These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
    • Now has 25% less health and 10% less damage in Master Mode.
    • Nerfed holy bomb damage from 40 / 80 Expert Mode / 120 Master Mode to 40 / 60 Expert Mode / 75 Master Mode.
  • Decreased Holy Flames duration from holy bombs from 4 seconds to 2.67, and from holy flares from 3 seconds to 2.
  • Can no longer spawn in the Brimstone Crags.
    • Nerfed health from 6000 to 4500.
    • Lanterns no longer deal contact damage.
    • Now vulnerable to cold and water debuffs, but resistant to sickness and heat debuffs.
    • Lanterns now inflict Holy Flames for 3 seconds.
    • Flames no longer glow blue during nighttime.
  • Projectiles now pierce through the player.
  • Fixed an error where the internal value for it wasn't resetting.
    • Increased minimum coin drop amount from 10 Silver Coin to 50 Silver Coin.
    • Lanterns no longer drop money.
  • Nerfed damage reduction from 25% to 10%.
  • Fixed lanterns drawing incorrectly.
    • Changed contact damage from 70 / 112 Expert Mode to 60 / 120 Expert Mode, and nerfed main flame damage from 50 / 80 Expert Mode / 120 Death Mode to 40 / 80 Expert Mode / 120 Death Mode.
    • Resprited.
  • Nerfed health from 10,000 / 12,000 Expert Mode to 6000 / 12,000 Expert Mode.
    • Nerfed health from 28,000 / 33,600 Expert Mode to 10,000 / 12,000 Expert Mode.
    • Only one can exist at a time now.
    • Nerfed damage reduction from 50% to 25%.
    • Now spawns less often.
  • Lanterns can no longer be drawn when base is destroyed.
    • Lowered spawn rate.
    • Now takes up 3 NPC slots.
  • Now uses vanilla enemy spawn chance instead of custom one.
    • Nerfed Holy Bomb damage from 140 / 280 Expert Mode to 100 / 200 Expert Mode.
    • Fixed them drawing their lanterns incorrectly.
  • Can no longer spawn if any post-Moon Lord bosses besides Ceaseless Void or Supreme Calamitas are alive.
