— Supreme Alchemist, Cirrus
Supreme Alchemist, Cirrus is a post-Moon Lord boss exclusive to the Get fixed boi seed which acts as an alternate route to the Supreme Witch, Calamitas fight.
Defeating her rewards the player with Supreme Witch, Calamitas' normal loot as well as the Alicorn on a Stick, an item that rapidly deals percentage-based damage.
Spawn
Supreme Alchemist, Cirrus does not spawn on her own and requires the player to summon her by interacting with the Altar of the Accursed while holding Fabsol's Vodka. Upon usage, Fabsol's Vodka is consumed, the screen will darken, shake, and become tinted purple before Cirrus herself appears above the Altar. When Cirrus is fully summoned, she will laugh devilishly instead of using the regular boss roar. Supreme Alchemist, Cirrus can be fought in any biome at any time.
If the Drunk Princess NPC is currently alive in the world, she will disappear when Cirrus is summoned.
Behavior
Cirrus' behavior mostly follows Supreme Witch, Calamitas', creating a 159x159 square of Arena Blocks on spawn and switching between attacks on a cycle.
Visually, Cirrus is always protected by a circular purple force field, which serves to increase the size of her hitbox.
Getting hit directly by Cirrus inflicts a random alcohol debuff for 25 seconds.
Attacks
While Supreme Alchemist, Cirrus is mobile, she will switch between these attacks in a well-defined cycle.
- She transforms into an Alicorn and charges at the player at an incredibly high speed trailed by a wall of Fabstaff rays which can bounce off of tiles. This occurs either 2 or 4 times in a row, depending on the position in the cycle.
- At the start of the attack prior to charging, she will become translucent as a warning.
- Once she enters her second phase, she will charge half as many times in a row.
- She attempts to hover above the player, shooting bursts of 8
Brimstone Darts at the player, leaving similar-sized gaps between the projectiles. She performs either 3 or 4 bursts during an attack.
- Some of the bursts are randomly replaced with firing a
Brimstone Fireblast or a
Brimstone Gigablast. This is the only occurence of randomness in her attack pattern.
- Brimstone Fireblasts home in on the player and explode into a ring of 8 / 12
/ 14
/ 16
Brimstone Darts after some time or on contact with blocks. Brimstone Gigablasts follow a similar behavior but are slower and explode into a much larger ring of 20 / 28
/ 32
/ 36
Brimstone Darts.
- Some of the bursts are randomly replaced with firing a
- She remains at the player's side and launches either 2 or 4 Brimstone Fireblasts (depending on the position in the cycle) with a constant delay between them.
- She remains at the player's side and fires a barrage of
Brimstone Flame Skulls, which fly in a horizontal wave pattern. She shoots the Flame Skulls horizontally once she has taken her position to the left/right of the player - however, she can already start shooting while in the process of homing towards this position. This can cause bullets to fly in non-horizontal directions.
Once she enters her second phase at 40% HP, the delays between her attacks as well as inside her attacks become shorter; she charges more aggressively and only half as often per attack.
Attack Cycle
Supreme Alchemist, Cirrus has the same attack cycle as Supreme Witch, Calamitas which only interrupts when she is not attacking at all. Neither going through bullet-hell phases, nor switching to her second phase changes the current position in this cycle. It repeats once it is finished.
The attack cycle (starting as soon as the first Dragonfolly swarm is summoned):
- Shoots bursts of Brimstone Darts
- Shoots a horizontal barrage of Brimstone Flame Skulls
- Launches 2 Brimstone Fireblasts
- Charges 4 times (2 times in the second phase)
- Launches 2 Brimstone Fireblasts
- Shoots a horizontal barrage of Brimstone Flame Skulls
- Shoots bursts of Brimstone Darts
- Charges 2 times (once in the second phase)
- Shoots bursts of Brimstone Darts
- Shoots a horizontal barrage of Brimstone Flame Skulls
- Launches 4 Brimstone Fireblasts
- Shoots a horizontal barrage of Brimstone Flame Skulls
- Charges 2 times (once in the second phase)
- Shoots bursts of Brimstone Darts
- Launches 4 Brimstone Fireblasts
- Charges 4 times (2 times in the second phase)
- Shoots bursts of Brimstone Darts
- Charges 2 times (once in the second phase)
- Shoots bursts of Brimstone Darts
- Charges 2 times (once in the second phase)
Note that every time she shoots bursts of Brimstone Darts, some bursts are replaced by Brimstone Fire- and Gigablasts.
Since it is a relatively long cycle with multiple occurrences of every type of attack, it is time consuming to fully memorize and comprehend it. Whilst it is not necessary to do so, it proves beneficial when playing in harder difficulties and/or with special constraints.
Progression
Supreme Alchemist, Cirrus will perform these attacks once, triggered by her reaching certain amounts of health.
- Upon spawning, she will summon a randomized "Bullet Hell" of horizontal Brimstone Flame Skulls which travel from one edge of the player's screen to the other. She will be invincible and immobile until the Bullet Hell ends.
After the Bullet Hell ends, she will teleport to the upper-right corner of the arena and summon a flock of 10 Dragonfollies to assist her before becoming mobile. - Upon reaching 75% health, the second Bullet Hell triggers, in which Brimstone Gigablasts are also fired at the player from offscreen. This occurs in every Bullet Hell hereafter. Additionally, Cirrus will toss out bottles of
Fabsol's Vodka which explode into a spread of three Fabstaff rays upwards upon collision with tiles.
- Upon reaching 50% health, the third Bullet Hell triggers, in which Brimstone Fireblasts are also fired at the player along with the previous projectiles. This occurs in every Bullet Hell hereafter. Additionally, Cirrus will pull out a Photon Ripper and chase the player throughout the phase. The Photon Ripper will launch out
Prism Teeth towards the player which quickly cycle back towards Cirrus.
- Upon reaching 45% health, she will pause briefly and then summon two Devourers of Gods to assist her.
- Upon reaching 40% health, she laughs and transitions into her second phase, signified by a glowing aura around her and her attack animations becoming more pronounced. From now on, she will attack faster, but perform half as many charge attacks in a row. Immediately after transitioning, she will always shoot several bursts of Brimstone Darts before resuming her attack cycle from the last position.
- From this point on, her force field will visibly start flickering, with the intensity of the flickering growing as she loses health.
- Upon reaching 30% health, the fourth Bullet Hell triggers, and Cirrus will summon 2
/ 4
massive invincible
Brimstone Monsters which move towards the player at varying speeds and persist throughout the rest of the fight (they despawn after 10 minutes, but the fight does not last this long under normal circumstances). The Monsters do not interact and can stack on top of each other. Getting hit by the Brimstone Monsters causes the player to lose all of their buffs.
- During this Bullet Hell and in all following ones, the number of Brimstone Flame Skulls is noticeably decreased.
- Upon reaching 20% health, she will summon Providence, two Empresses of Light, and two Queen Slimes. Cirrus will remain invulnerable until Providence has been defeated.
- Upon reaching 10% health, the fifth and final Bullet Hell triggers, featuring every projectile introduced thus far, with the inclusion of
Brimstone Hellblasts which accelerate horizontally. Cirrus will once again pull out her Photon Ripper and chase the player while also flinging out more bottles of Fabsol's Vodka.
- Her damage reduction increases by 20% (from 25% to 30%) for the remainder of the battle.
- Upon reaching 8% health, she will summon another flock of Dragonfollies.
- Upon reaching 1% health she will start rapidly orbiting the player while creating
Mushroom Blasters that shoot a laser beam at the player after a short delay. This attack lasts for 20 seconds.
- After the circle of Mushroom Blasters ends, the fight concludes, and Cirrus reverts back to her Town NPC form while dropping her loot.
