The Blinded Angler is a Hardmode enemy that spawns in the Sunken Sea. It is initially passive and slowly swims back and forth. However, it will become aggressive if the player gets very close to it (~5 blocks away) and will try to swim towards the player to deal contact damage. It will become passive again if the player gets out of its range and dealing damage to it will not change its behavior.


  • The BestiaryBestiary entry for the Blinded Angler: "Lacking most normal senses, these predators use a form of biological sonar to ‘see’ their surroundings. The glowing crystals on their backs draw in prey that use the sea’s shimmering prisms as their guiding light, like a moth to the flame."


These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
    • Now has 25% less health and 10% less damage in Master Mode.
    • No longer deals 15% Revengeance Mode / 24% Death Mode more damage.
  • Fixed its bestiary entry using the wrong apostrophe.
  • Now vulnerable to electricity and sickness debuffs, but resistant to water and heat debuffs.
  • Nerfed damage from 150 / 300 Expert Mode / 375 Revengeance Mode / 431 Death Mode to 150 / 300 Expert Mode / 345 Revengeance Mode / 372 Death Mode.
