Atlas is a Hardmode enemy which spawns on the Surface Astral Infection biome. It is initially idle, in which it stands still and occasionally turns around. If it notices the player, it will walk slowly towards them, attempting to jump over any obstacles in the way. When Atlas gets close enough to the player, it will uppercut them with its big arm and launch them far away, after which the attack will enter a short cooldown. If it loses sight of the player for long enough, it will return to its idle behavior.

It can be detected with the Lifeform Analyzer.


  • Using a Cobalt Shield and its upgrades completely nullifies the uppercut's knockback.
  • There is a 1 in 1000 chance that the uppercut attack will knock the player about 3 times farther away.
  • In the get fixed boi seed, Atlas will always knock the player significantly further away.


  • The BestiaryBestiary entry for the Atlas: "Knights of the infection, these fusions of creatures pack an immense punch. Though slow due to their overbearing weight, a single blow from an atlas is easily able to pulverize a monolith. Their hearts continue to slowly beat even after being ripped from their bodies, for their lives seemingly cannot truly end."
  • In Greek mythology, Atlas is the Titan of endurance, strength and astronomy who was meant to hold up the celestial heavens for eternity.

    • Nerfed base damage from 70 / 140 Expert Mode / 175 Revengeance Mode / 201 Death Mode to 70 / 140 Expert Mode / 161 Revengeance Mode / 173 Death Mode.
    • Nerfed post-Astrum Aureus damage from 100 / 200 Expert Mode / 250 Revengeance Mode / 287 Death Mode to 100 / 200 Expert Mode / 229 Revengeance Mode / 248 Death Mode.
    • Nerfed post-Astrum Deus damage from 150 / 300 Expert Mode / 375 Revengeance Mode / 431 Death Mode to 150 / 300 Expert Mode / 345 Revengeance Mode / 372 Death Mode.
    • Moves 50% faster in Death Mode.
  • Now spawns more commonly if Lunatic Cultist has been defeated but Astrum Deus has not.
  • Fixed its death sound not playing.
  • Now inflicts Astral Infection for 2 seconds on contact.
    • Now gains increased stats, equivalent to old stat values, after defeating Astrum Aureus.
    • Now drops Titan Arm after defeating Astrum Aureus instead of Astrum Deus.
    • Now immune to Lava.
    • Nerfed health from 1600 / 3200 Expert Mode to 1200 / 2400 Expert Mode, contact damage from 75 / 150 Expert Mode to 70 / 140 Expert Mode, defense from 50 to 40, and knockback resistance from 96% to 92%.
    • Swing damage now inherits contact damage values instead of having a fixed value of 130.
    • Killing one will now display a status message in chat until up to 3 have been killed, which will then spawn Astrum Deus.
  • Increased delay between when its hit sound can play.
    • Increased volume of hit and death sounds.
    • Fixed all sounds not playing properly.
