The Armageddon Icon as shown in the Difficulity Indicator UI.

Armageddon was an item that could be obtained from the Starter Bag. It could be activated and deactivated. When active, it had multiple effects on gameplay:

  • While a boss was alive (either from Calamity Mod or vanilla), any damage to the player (such as enemy or projectile contact, fall damage, or Grenades) would result in instant death.
  • The player's respawn time was much shorter.
  • Bosses would drop an additional 5 Treasure Bags even in Normal Mode if said boss had never been defeated previously in the world.

Right clicking with the item toggled whether or not dodges bypass the mode's instant death effect.

It could be crafted at an Altar and did not have any ingredients.

While active, the Armageddon icon would be shown on the bottom-right side of the Difficulty Indicator.

Notes

  • The instant death effect while the item was active bypassed revival effects from God Slayer armor, Silva armor and Auric Tesla armor, as well as the Invincible buff from Purified Jam.
  • Debuffs such as Holy Inferno would not kill the player instantly. They decreased the health as usual.
  • Attempting to use Armageddon while a boss was alive would have no effect, and displayed a status message that reads, "You cannot change the rules now."
  • Only bosses from Calamity and Vanilla that dropped Treasure Bags normally, were affected by the Armageddon Treasure Bag drop increase.
  • This was the only way to obtain treasure bags in Normal Mode.
    • This allowed the player to obtain Expert Mode exclusive items in Normal Mode.
  • If a boss from a different mod was alive, the insta-kill effect still applied, but no extra treasure bags would be dropped.
  • Killing the Wall of Flesh with Armageddon enabled would not cause it to drop treasure bags in normal mode, to prevent players from obtaining the Demon Heart.

Trivia

  • Whenever the player died while under the effects of this item, the death message would always be "<PlayerName> failed the challenge at hand.", regardless of the actual cause of death.
  • This item used a similar palette to the Astrageldon Slime, a removed boss. This is because the boss was a reference to the Armageddon Slime from the Exxo Avalon mod, which this item shared its name with.
