The Coldheart Icicle was a unique Hardmode shortsword that was sold by the Archmage. It always dealt 1 damage to enemies, regardless of any modifiers or attack boosts the player may have had, and it could not inflict critical hits. Whenever an enemy was struck with this weapon, their health was decreased by 2% of their max health, ignoring all defense and damage reduction.

Its best modifier was Light, as the Coldheart Icicle had minimal knockback and did not benefit from increased damage or critical strike chance.

Notes

  • The enemy or boss had to be vulnerable to damage for this weapon to be effective. The Coldheart Icicle could not damage enemies that were completely unable to be hit.
  • Providence, the Profaned Goddess was completely immune to the Coldheart Icicle.
  • Its life reduction effect applied to the head segment of worm enemies, but not body or tail segments.
  • The Invincible buff's effects would not apply when this weapon was held.
  • Its life reduction effect was not affected by rage or adrenaline damage increases.

Tips

  • It benefited most from equipment and accessory modifiers that maximized melee speed.
  • This weapon could become excessively powerful against enemies with very high health, due to the percentage-based life drain effect.
  • This weapon could be useful against bosses which entered periods of very high defense and/or DR, such as Brimstone Elemental's encased phase, as the player could continue to deal decent damage to them when they would normally be dealing very little. Due to the weapon's very short range, caution should have been taken to avoid excessive contact damage from the boss.
