Cryocores were Hardmode enemies that spawned in the Snow biome. They came in two variants, both of which attacked by accelerating towards the player.

Trivia

  • The small Cryocore's sprite was identical to a previous sprite for the Cryo Stone, and the large Cryocore's sprite was an animated version of a previous sprite for Ice Stars.

History

These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
  • 1.5.1.001:
    • No longer spawn during the Cryogen fight; both variants now spawn in the Snow biome in Hardmode and drop Essence of Eleum at a 33% and 50% chance respectively.
    • Damage is no longer boosted in Revengeance or Death Mode, health and knockback resistance are no longer boosted during Boss Rush, and speed is no longer boosted in Revengeance Mode, Malice Mode, or Boss Rush.
    • Now pass through tiles and are now vulnerable to lifesteal.
    • Now has a base money drop value of 3 Silver Coin.png 50 Copper Coin.png for the normal variant and 5 Silver Coin for the strong variant.
    • Both variants are now vulnerable to heat debuffs but resistant to cold and sickness debuffs.
  • 1.5.0.001:
    • No longer immune to any debuffs except Confused, Pearl Aura, Glacial State, and Exo Freeze.
    • No longer drop Hearts in Revengeance or Malice Mode.
  • 1.4.5.003: Buffed strong variant damage from 40 / 80 Expert Mode / 96 Revengeance Mode / 105 Death Mode to 40 / 80 Expert Mode / 96 Revengeance Mode / 106 Death Mode.
  • 1.4.3.001:
    • Nerfed normal variant damage from 35 / 70 Expert Mode / 87 Revengeance Mode / 100 Death Mode to 35 / 70 Expert Mode / 84 Revengeance Mode / 92 Death Mode.
    • Nerfed strong variant damage from 40 / 80 Expert Mode / 100 Revengeance Mode / 114 Death Mode to 40 / 80 Expert Mode / 96 Revengeance Mode / 105 Death Mode.
  • 1.4.2.109: Both variants are now affected by the Warmth Potion.

    • Buffed normal variant defense from 5 to 6.

    • Strong variant is now guaranteed to inflict Frostburn on contact, and also inflicts Chilled now.
    • Normal variant now inflicts Frostburn and Chilled on contact.
    • Increased Frostburn duration from strong variant from 1 second to 1.5.
  • 1.3.4.103:
    • Buffed strong variant defense from 0 to 10.
    • Resprited both variants.
  • 1.3.3.001: Now affected by the early Hardmode damage and health nerfs.
  • 1.3.2.001:
    • Nerfed normal variant damage from 40 / 80 Expert Mode to 35 / 70 Expert Mode.
    • Nerfed strong variant damage from 55 / 110 Expert Mode to 37 / 74 Expert Mode.
  • 1.2.4.201:
    • Nerfed normal variant health from 400 / 560 Expert Mode to 220 / 440 Expert Mode, and changed damage from 55 / 77 Expert Mode to 40 / 80 Expert Mode.
    • Nerfed strong variant health from 500 / 700 Expert Mode to 300 / 600 Expert Mode, and changed damage from 65 / 91 Expert Mode to 55 / 110 Expert Mode.
  • 1.2.4.002:
    • Buffed normal variant health from 200 / 280 Expert Mode to 400 / 560 Expert Mode.
    • Buffed strong variant health from 250 / 350 Expert Mode to 500 / 700 Expert Mode.
    • Now spawns in pairs randomly along with Aurora Spirits instead of in large groups on phase transitions.
  • 1.2.0.001:
    • Nerfed regular variant health from 300 / 420 Expert Mode to 200 / 280 Expert Mode, and damage from 70 / 98 Expert Mode to 55 / 77 Expert Mode.
    • Nerfed strong variant health from 350 / 490 Expert Mode to 250 / 350 Expert Mode, and damage from 80 / 112 Expert Mode to 65 / 91 Expert Mode.
    • Strong variant now inflicts Frostburn for 1 second instead of 1.67.
  • 1.1.7.901:
    • Buffed normal variant health from 200 / 240 Expert Mode to 300 / 420 Expert Mode, and damage from 50 / 60 Expert Mode to 70 / 98 Expert Mode.
    • Buffed strong variant health from 250 / 300 Expert Mode to 350 / 490 Expert Mode, and damage from 60 / 72 Expert Mode to 80 / 112 Expert Mode.
    • Increased strong variant's Expert Mode chance to inflict Frostburn on contact from 25% Expert Mode to 33% Expert Mode.
  • 1.1.7.55:
    • Buffed normal variant health from 100 / 120 Expert Mode to 200 / 240 Expert Mode, and damage from 45 / 54 Expert Mode to 50 / 60 Expert Mode.
    • Buffed strong variant health from 130 / 156 Expert Mode to 250 / 300 Expert Mode, and damage from 55 / 66 Expert Mode to 60 / 72 Expert Mode.
  • 1.1.7:
    • Buffed normal variant damage from 35 / 42 Expert Mode to 45 / 54 Expert Mode.
    • Buffed strong variant damage from 45 / 54 Expert Mode to 55 / 66 Expert Mode.
