The Water Leech was a Pre-Hardmode enemy that spawned during the Acid Rain event. It was fairly common and accelerated towards the player while they were submerged, sticking onto them. It would not deal contact damage, instead constantly inflicting the Bleeding debuff along with the Heavy Bleeding debuff, which reduced player's health by 3 per second in Tier 1, 6 per second in Tier 2, and 12 per second in Tier 3. If the player was not submerged, it would become invincible and immobile.

Trivia

  • The BestiaryBestiary entry for the Water Leech: "It can smell the scent of flesh from far distances and will eagerly squirm its way to the source. Once attached to the host, they rapidly intake blood and discharge venom, both of which heavily disadvantage its prey."

  • 2.0.0.003: Fixed a bug that caused it to drop multiple Parasitic Scepters instead of just 1.
  • 1.5.1.001: Now vulnerable to electricity debuffs, but resistant to water, sickness, and heat debuffs.
  • 1.5.0.001:
    • Nerfed tier 3 health from 2250 to 1235.
    • Fixed an oversight that allowed it to inherit contact damage from the enemy that hit the player last.
  • 1.4.5.003:
    • Nerfed tier 1 health from 60 / 96 Expert Mode to 30 / 60 Expert Mode and damage from 20 / 34 Expert Mode to 10 / 20 Expert Mode.
    • Nerfed tier 2 health from 150 / 240 Expert Mode to 90 / 180 Expert Mode and damage from 80 / 136 Expert Mode to 30 / 60 Expert Mode.

    • Nerfed tier 1 health from 80 / 128 Expert Mode to 60 / 96 Expert Mode and tier 2 health from 320 / 512 Expert Mode to 150 / 240 Expert Mode.
    • Reduced knockback resistance from 100% to 0%.
  • 1.4.4.004:
    • Nerfed tier 2 damage from 100 / 170 Expert Mode to 80 / 136 Expert Mode.
    • Nerfed tier 3 damage from 172 / 292 Expert Mode to 120 / 204 Expert Mode.
  • 1.4.4.002:
    • Nerfed tier 1 damage from 30 / 51 Expert Mode to 20 / 34 Expert Mode.
    • Fixed it teleport-leeching to players and spawn-killing them.
