The Flame-Licked Shell is a Hardmode accessory that is dropped by the Brimstone Elemental. When equipped, it grants immunity to Searing Lava, and allows the player to parry attacks by pressing the Activate Accessory Parry key which encases them in rocks. Parrying an attack reduces its damage by 90% while imploding the rocks and releases a ring of brimstone darts that deal 20 typeless damage and an arc of brimstone hellblasts from the player, which each deal 60 typeless damage. The hellblast arc will aim towards the nearest enemy, or towards the cursor if no enemies are nearby. The parry's damage reducing effect has a 20 second cooldown. Parrying while on cooldown will release a weaker brimstone dart ring.

Trivia

• This accessory is a reference to the Fabled Tortoise shield from Borderlands 2.
  • Before version 1.5.0.001, this item used to be called the Fabled Tortoise Shell and it was dropped by Giant Tortoises, which was a rare variant of the Giant Tortoise Shell.

  • Reworked:
    • No longer grants 36 defense, decreases movement speed, deals damage to enemies and increases movement speed when hit, or grants immunity to Armor Crunch.
    • Now grants immunity to Searing Lava, and allows the player to parry attacks by pressing the Activate Accessory Parry key.
    • Parrying an attack reduces its damage by 90%, and releases a ring of brimstone darts and an arc of brimstone hellblasts from the player. The hellblast arc will aim towards the nearest enemy, or towards the cursor if no enemies are nearby.
