The 1.4.4.002 (or 1.4.4.2) update added several expansions to the Sulphurous Sea along with a few other items and balance changes. The update is also notable for the name change of the Bumblebirb into The Dragonfolly.

• Added equipped sprites for Counter Scarf and Iron Boots.

Changes

Bosses

• Toxic Bubbles from the Sulphurous Sea no longer appear while a boss is alive.

Aquatic Scourge

• Now takes 1% damage from Brimstone Sword's projectiles and explosions.
• No longer drops Souls of Sight.
• Tier 2 Acid Rain is now forced 10 seconds after defeat.

Astrum Aureus

• No longer drops Lunar Fragments.

Astrum Deus

• Worms now take 10% damage from Aerial Bane instead of 20%.

Brimstone Elemental

• Changed laser telegraph from dusts to a line.
• No longer drops Souls of Fright.

Calamitas

• Now charges twice after every set of hellfireballs and lasers fired in phase 2 in Revengeance Mode.

Cryogen

• No longer drops Souls of Might.

The Destroyer

• Reduced Frozen and Chilled time from frost lasers.
• Now takes 10% damage from Brimstone Sword's projectiles and 1% damage from explosions.
• Now takes 38% damage from Spent Fuel Container instead of 33.33%.

The Dragonfolly

• Red Lightning Aura no longer deals damage until fully materialized.

Duke Fishron

• Now takes 135% damage from Resurrection Butterfly instead of 200%.

Lunatic Cultist

• Now takes 75% damage from Resurrection Butterfly instead of 50%.

The Old Duke

• Tooth Ball teeth now have less lifespan.
• Sulphurous Sharkrons no longer deal damage until fully visible.
• Resistance changes:
  • Now takes 20% damage from Galileo Gladius instead of 40%.
  • Now takes 20% damage from Crescent Moon instead of 60%.
  • Now takes 60% damage from Soul Edge instead of 75%.

Profaned Guardians

• Added a 5 second grace period to their enrages when outside The Hallow or The Underworld.

Providence

• Now takes 150% damage from Elemental Axe.

Storm Weaver

• Now takes 10% damage from Stardust Dragon Staff.

Enemies

• Charred Slime now spawns after defeating Brimstone Elemental instead of Plantera.
• Flak Crab now only spawns underwater.
• Nuclear Toad now spawns less frequently.
• Reduced the amount of kills to clear the first two tiers of the Acid Rain event from 180 kills to 90 in Tier 1 and 125 in Tier 2.
• Nerfed Tier 1 Water Leech's damage from 30 / 51 to 20 / 34 .

Balance

• Added stealth strike effects to Prismalline and Snap Clam.
• Flails no longer count as true melee weapons.
• Buffed Absolute Zero's damage from 42 to 120.
• Buffed Arctic Bear Paw's damage from 70 to 100.
• Nerfed Barinautical's use time from 6 to 12, and use delay from 15 to 20.
• Nerfed Brimblade's damage from 32 to 28.
• Buffed Brimlance's damage from 75 to 100.
• Greatly increased the range of Brimrose Staff.
• Nerfed Brimstone Fury's damage from 40 to 35.

• Rebalanced Entropy's Vigil. Buffed damage from 27 to 35. It now requires 2 minion slots to summon the whole trio; having 1 minion slot left will only summon Calamitamini.
• Buffed Eternal Blizzard's damage from 32 to 73.
• Nerfed Eutrophic Scimitar, projectiles now deal 70% base damage.
• Buffed Excalibur Shortsword's damage from 55 to 70.
• Nerfed Flarewing Bow's damage from 25 to 20, and use time from 28 to 29.
• Nerfed Forsaken Saber, projectiles now deal 80% base damage.
• Buffed Frostbrand's damage from 53 to 81.
• Nerfed Hallowed Rune, stars now deal 33% damage and have a 1 second cooldown before re-appearing.
• Buffed Hellion Flower Spear's damage from 67 to 120.
• Nerfed Igneous Exaltation's damage from 39 to 34. Launched Igneous Blades now pierce twice instead of infinitely.
• Buffed Inferna Cutter's damage from 85 to 100, and critical strike chance from 4% to 14%.
• Buffed Phoenix Blade's damage from 95 to 120, and use time from 28 to 26.
• Rebalanced Resurrection Butterfly. Buffed damage from 25 to 65. It now requires 2 minion slots to summon the whole duo; having 1 minion slot left will only summon the Pink Butterfly.
• Nerfed Roxcalibur's damage from 200 to 120.
• Nerfed Snap Clam's debuff damage from 17.5 per second per clam to 7.5 per second per clam.
• Nerfed Spent Fuel Container's damage from 69 to 50, and use time from 28 to 35.
• Buffed Starnight Lance's damage from 68 to 95, and beam now pierces twice instead of once.
• Buffed Storm Saber's damage from 42 to 68. It now additionally fires another beam from above.
• Nerfed Submarine Shocker's damage from 70 to 60.
• Buffed True Caustic Edge's damage from 42 to 100, and projectile now gains a 25% increase to damage per bounce.
• Nerfed Vile Feeder, minions now spawn 1-2 mini-eaters instead of 1-3.
• Buffed Winter's Fury's damage from 28 to 69.

Recipes

• Any Lore item can now be crafted with a respective boss trophy and 10 Victory Shards.
• The consumable variant of the Caustic Tear can now be crafted with 4 Sulphuric Scales at water.
• Astral Brick now uses Astral Stone in its recipe instead of Stone Blocks.
• Axe of Purity now uses 20 Pixie Dust and 10 Crystal Shards in its recipe instead of 10 and 5, and now requires a Hardmode Anvil to craft instead of an Anvil.
• Biome Blade now uses 20 Dirt Blocks, Sand Blocks, Ice Blocks, Any Evil Blocks, Glowing Mushrooms, Marble Blocks, Granite Blocks, Hellstone, Coral, and Pearlstone Blocks in its recipe instead of 10.
• Celestus now uses Molten Amputator in its recipe instead of Executioner's Blade.
• The Dance of Light now uses Sky Fracture in its recipe.
• Eternity now uses Slithering Eels in its recipe instead of Tome of Fates.
• Fathom Swarmer Visage now uses 3 Depth Cells in its recipe.

• Kelvin Catalyst now uses 1 Frozen Key in its recipe instead of 30 Souls of Might.
• Metal Detector now uses 5 Gold Dust and 5 Any Iron Bars in its recipe instead of 5 Hallowed Bars.
• Profaned Soul Crystal can now be crafted anywhere but instead uses 5 Shadowspec Bars, 25 Divine Geodes, and 50 Unholy Essences instead of 10, 50, and 100 if crafted in The Hallow or The Underworld.
• Sigil of Calamitas now uses the Any Evil Water recipe group.
• Snow Ruffian armor now uses the Any Snow Block and Any Ice Block recipe groups.
• Svantechnical now uses SDFMG in its recipe instead of S.D.M.G.
• True Caustic Edge now uses the Any Evil Flask recipe group.
• Vanquisher Arrow's recipe now yields 333 instead of 250.

Reworks

• Reworked The Dance of Light, it no longer fires white splitting flares. It now fires a flurry of light blades with slight homing, causing a flash of light to erupt after 300 hits. Buffed damage from 700 to 2077, critical strike chance from 4% to 24%, and mana cost from 9 to 6, but nerfed shot speed from 30 to 14.
• Nerfed Draedon's Heart's passive damage boost from 10% to 5%. It now inherits the reworked effects of Laudanum and Stress Pills below:
  • Laudanum no longer grants stat boosts or immunity to the Horror debuff. It now causes Horror to last twice as long, but provide the player with several positive buffs instead of harming the player.
  • Stress Pills no longer grant damage boosts and nerfed defense boost from 8 to 4. It now makes hits during a boss fight only remove half the Adrenaline Meter instead of the full meter.

Additional Changes

• The Abominationn from the Fargo's Mutant Mod can now cancel the Acid Rain event and sells the consumable Caustic Tear after it has been defeated.
• Added an electric animation to the Adrenaline and Rage Meters when fully charged and a shake effect when used. The meters now drop smoothly when used instead of abruptly.
  • The shake effect can be customized in the configuration options.
• Aestheticus now swings like a broadsword instead of being held like a wand.
• Several items sold by the Archmage have increased in tier:
  • Arctic Bear Paw, Cryogenic Staff, and Frosty Flare are now sold after defeating all Mechanical Bosses. Increased buy prices from 36 to 48 , and they now use the rarity instead of .
  • Absolute Zero, Eternal Blizzard, Icicle Arrow, Icy Bullet, and Winter's Fury are now sold after defeating the Frost Moon.
    • Increased Icicle Arrow and Icy Bullet's buy prices from 15 to 80 , and they now use the rarity instead of .
    • Increased Absolute Zero, Eternal Blizzard, and Winter's Fury's buy prices from 36 to 80 , and they now use the rarity instead of .
• Astral armor's fallen stars now use a new projectile that deals ranged damage and decreases its damage by 6.25% for each enemy it strikes.
• Calamity Beds and Bathtubs can now be placed on platforms.
• Bloodflare armor's souls and Plague Reaper armor's cinders are now affected by ranged damage boosts.
• Charred Ore can now only be mined after defeating Brimstone Elemental. Decreased pickaxe power requirement from 200% to 180%.
• Added a status message after defeating Brimstone Elemental to inform the player they can now mine Charred Ore.
• Added the name "Joeseph Jostar" for the Clothier.
• Devil's Sunrise, Diseased Pike, Fulguration Halberd, Gilded Proboscis, Heart Rapier, Marnite Spear, Murasama, Sausage Maker, Vulcanite Lance, and Yateveo Bloom now benefit from true melee bonuses.
• Most Drunk Princess' drinks have increased in tier:
  • Screwdriver, Vodka, and White Wine are now sold after defeating all Mechanical Bosses.
  • Caribbean Rum, Evergreen Gin, and Margarita are now sold after defeating Plantera.
  • Bloody Mary and Everclear are now sold after defeating Astrum Aureus.
  • Cinnamon Roll, Moonshine, Moscow Mule, and Tequila Sunrise are now sold after defeating Golem.
• Harpy Wings now give a chance for most attacks to create a feather while Harpy Ring or Angel Treads are equipped.
• The Oiled debuff now increases the damage over time for Abyssal Flames, Brimstone Flames, Demon Flames, God Slayer Inferno, and Holy Flames.
• Slightly adjusted the Profaned Soul Artifact challenge to allow for damage up to 5% of Providence's max health instead of 1%.
• Skyline Wings now grant the player a 25% jump speed boost when wearing Aerospec armor.
• Rage is no longer internally named "Stress".
• The Sea King now sells the consumable Caustic Tear after the Acid Rain is defeated.
• Reduced the amount of life regeneration reduction from Sulphuric Poisoning from 24 to 6.
• Sulphurous armor now reduces the effect of Sulphuric Poisoning.
• Sulphurous armor's jump now has a cooldown of 0.33 seconds.
• Changed the Sulphurous Sea world generation to include islands.
• The Astral Meteor now avoids the Sulphurous Sea completely.
• Afterimages can now be turned off via configuration options instead of lighting settings.
