The Flower of Fire being used.

The Flower of Fire is a pre-Hardmode, post-Skeletron magic weapon that launches a slow, non-piercing Ball of Fire that ricochets up to five (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) / four (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) times, dissipating on the sixth (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) / fifth (Old-gen console and 3DS versions). Upon contact with an enemy, the Balls of Fire have a 1/2 (50%) chance to inflict the On Fire! debuff for a duration of 5 seconds. The Flower of Fire has a (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) 1/5 (20%) / (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) 1/6 (16.67%) chance of being obtained from Shadow Chests in The Underworld, and has a 1/5 (20%) chance of being found in Obsidian Lock Boxes(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) obtained from Obsidian(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) and Hellstone Crates(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions).

Its best modifier is Mythical.

Notes

  • The Flower of Fire cannot be used while submerged in liquids and will not use mana. The projectile dissipates instantly on contact with water or honey.
  • In don't dig up(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) and Get fixed boi(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) seeds, the Flower of Fire receives the following changes:
    • Switched place with Unholy Trident. As a result, it is dropped by Red Devils instead of being found in Shadow Chests and Obsidian Lock Boxes.
    • Damage increased from 48 to 85.
    • Use time decreased from 16 to 12.
    • Inflicts Hellfire instead of On Fire!.
    • Value increased from 12 GC50 SC to 50 GC.

Tips

  • The Flower of Fire does exceptionally high damage for a pre-Hardmode weapon. Prior to Hardmode, it is second only to the Star Cannon in per-hit damage and even rivals many high-tier Hardmode weapons in that statistic.

Trivia

  • The Flower of Frost can be considered the Hardmode upgrade to the Flower of Fire.
    • Similar to the Flower of Frost, the Flower of Fire is a reference to the Super Mario platform game series, in which the Fire Flower is a power-up that gives the player the ability to throw similar bouncing fireballs.
    • While the Flower of Fire and Flower of Frost's stems look very similar, they are actually different: the leaves are shaped more circularly on the Flower of Frost, and there is a distinct lack of shading as well.
  • (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) The Wizard NPC hurls fireballs at enemies in his vicinity in a similar fashion to the Flower of Fire.
  • The light produced by the fireball is red, while the light produced from the trail is white and the light from the explosion is orange.
