Wings are accessories that allow the player to fly temporarily by pressing and holding the ↷ Jump key. They also provide immunity from fall damage (except when the player is affected by the Stoned debuff), rendering the Lucky Horseshoe, Obsidian Horseshoe, Umbrella, and Featherfall Potions unnecessary. By continuing to hold the ↷ Jump key after the wings' flight time has been exhausted, the player is able to glide. Gliding fall speed can be accelerated by holding the ▼ Down key. Equipping Wings generally replaces jumps entirely with flight, rather than requiring a double-jump to activate. The MOAB however, grants the player a quadruple-jump before being able to fly. Flight time resets when the player stands on blocks, or grabs a block with a grappling hook.

The Calamity Mod introduces 10 types of wings, with 1 being available in Pre-Hardmode, 5 being available in Hardmode, and the other 4 being available post-Moon Lord.

Wings within the Vanilla game are also rebalanced within the Calamity Mod, granting them brand new stats.

Both vanilla and Calamity wings have added information in their tooltips which tells the player how many frames of flight and the level of acceleration the wings provide. There are 60 frames in one in-game second, so 60 frames in the tooltip translates to 1 in-game second of flight, 120 frames translates to 2 in-game seconds, etc. The acceleration number is a multiplier; 1 in the tooltip translates to normal acceleration, 2 in the tooltip is twice the normal acceleration, etc.

When equipping any wings, the Flight Time Bar will display the remaining flight time of those wings.

Notes

• All vanilla and modded wings display their statistics such as horizontal speed, acceleration multiplier, vertical speed and flight time in their respective tooltips.
• Although not identified as wings, other accessories that allow flight can not be equipped while a wing is and vice versa.
  • The MOAB can not be equipped while another accessory that allows flight is equipped. However, the Bundle of Balloons can still be equipped.
