The True Excalibur is a Hardmode sword that is a direct upgrade to the Excalibur. The True Excalibur is one of the ingredients necessary to craft the Terra Blade.
On the Desktop version, Console version, and Mobile version, it possesses a stronger version of the Excalibur's effect, adding an additional pink aura past the existing yellow aura from its predecessor, which both follow along the sword's swing arc to increase its effective range. When the sword or its auras strike enemies, a bright pink and yellow flash is created.
On the Old-gen console version and Nintendo 3DS version, it fires a glowing pink sword projectile called "Light Beam" in the direction of the cursor every 0.48 seconds on average. Because this ability has a short cooldown, not every swing of the sword launches a Light Beam. The Light Beam travels in a straight line until it impacts a tile or enemy.
(Old-gen console version) Unlike the Excalibur, the True Excalibur is not capable of autoswing.
Its best modifier is Legendary.

Notes
- (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) Unlike regular broadswords, the True Excalibur can only hit up to six targets per swing.
- (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) The True Excalibur will always knock enemies away from the player, regardless of the direction it is swung.
- (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) Due to their similar properties and counterpart characteristics, the True Excalibur can be compared to the True Night's Edge:
- The True Night's Edge does 30% more damage, but is only 50% as fast. The Light Beam, the glowing sword projectile fired by the True Excalibur, can go through one block-wide gaps, both horizontally and vertically, while the Night Beam can pass through solid one block-thick walls if standing directly adjacent. It cannot be fired vertically through ceilings or floors.
- Because it spins, the Night Beam effectively hits more enemies than the Light Beam. However, the Light Beam can be launched more often and moves at a faster speed.
- The True Excalibur has a 13.33% lower DPS as it may swing faster but has less damage than the True Night's Edge. Note that DPS is merely a rough estimate and far from being a reliable stat for comparison.
Trivia
- (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) The Light Beams quickly pulsate, which can be viewed in detail by riding in a Minecart at full speed and firing straight forward.
