The Profaned Soul Artifact is a craftable post-Moon Lord accessory. It summons all three miniature Profaned Guardians to assist the player.

  • The Healer Guardian heals the player for 15 health every 5 seconds.
  • The Defensive Guardian closely follows the player. After 5 seconds of equipping the item without taking damage, a small orange shield covers the user and builds up to 25 shield durability at a rate of 12.5 durability per second. Durability depletes instead of health as the player takes damage equal to the amount of damage taken and can be regenerated in the same manner that the shield is formed. The shield is also surrounded by 5 orbiting rocks, which burst outwards when it is destroyed, dealing 52 damage boosted by the player's summon damage stat. The guardian itself stays in front and faces the target when the shield is active and stays behind the player when the shield is down.
  • The Offensive Guardian rapidly dashes at enemies and grants the player one extra minion slot. The Offensive Guardian deals 52 damage, increased by the player's summon damage stat. Every 16 hits, it releases a burst of 6 spears which deals 25% of the guardian's damage and homes into enemies after 0.83 seconds have passed.

Additionally, equipping the Profaned Soul Artifact causes all minions to inflict the Holy Flames debuff for 5 seconds.

  • Unlike the other Soul Artifacts, this item was not used to summon any of the Future bosses and was instead added in a later version as a Dedicated item.


These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
    • Now halves the amount of Adrenaline lost if the shield fully absorbs a hit.
    • Rocks now have oscillating transparency when orbiting around the player.
    • Increased sell price from 24 Gold Coin to 30 Gold Coin.
    • Fixed an exploit where its shield granted immunity frames for all cooldown slots if the shield fully absorbed a hit.
    • Rocks now ignore water.
    • Fixed it not properly drawing its rocks in multiplayer.
    • Reworked:
      • No longer provides any stats other than the 1 minion slot.
      • Offensive Guardian now occasionally fires spear bursts when attacking.
      • Defensive Guardian no longer attacks targets, and instead stays close to the player and generates a shield. This shield has a durability of 25, and will recharge if no damage is taken for 5 seconds, taking 2 seconds to recharge.
      • When the shield breaks, profaned rocks are shot out which deal damage to enemies.
  • Now spawns its Offensive and Defensive Guardians properly without their removed conditions.
  • All three minions now spawn regardless of conditions. The offensive guardian no longer increases summon damage.
    • Guardians no longer scale in damage with progression.
    • Removed Burnt Out debuff; it now appears on the cooldown rack.
    • Nerfed minion's base damage from 100 to 75, post-Devourer of Gods damage from 200 to 150, and post-Yharon damage from 300 to 225.
    • The offense guardian minion now deals 70% of the minion's damage.
  • Minions now grant enemies 9 local immunity frames instead of 6, and slightly decreased the projectile speed of all minions.
  • Slightly adjusted the challenge to allow for damage up to 5% of Providence's max health instead of 1%.
    • Added an exclamation point at the end of The Profaned Soul's buff tooltip while only the healer is active.
    • Fixed it not checking the player's minion slots properly.
    • Fixed a grammar error in the tooltip.
    • Renamed buff from "Defensive Guardian" to "The Profaned Soul".
    • Now requires 10 minion slots or higher for the defensive guardian to spawn instead of 8.
    • Now uses 1 Core of Calamity and 10 Divine Geodes in its recipe instead of 1 Core of Sunlight and 5 Divine Geodes.
    • Adjusted the buff tooltip of The Profaned Soul buff and allowed it to dynamically affect the status of all three guardians spawned.
    • Fixed minions not benefitting from increased all-class damage.
    • Removed Healer Guardian and Offensive Guardian buffs.
  • Now always gives 1 minion slot even while the player is Burnt Out.
  • Offensive guardian's buff description now says that it will "fight for you" instead of "protect you".
  • Changed flavor text from "Profanation" to "Purity".
  • Nerfed guardians' base damage from 150 to 100.
    • Offensive guardian can now activate if the player wears Omega Blue armor.
    • Offensive and defensive guardians now scale in damage after defeating The Devourer of Gods and/or Jungle Dragon, Yharon.
  • Nerfed the damages of the offensive and defensive guardians from 400% of the player's summon damage to 150%.
