Hallowed Star

The Hallowed Rune is a craftable Hardmode accessory that is a direct upgrade of the Spirit Glyph. When equipped, whenever a minion hits an enemy, the player will gain one of the following buffs:

  • Hallowed Defense, which increases defense by 8 and damage reduction by 4%.
  • Hallowed Power, which increases summon damage by 10%. Additionally, while this buff is active, a hallowed star rains from the sky on hit which deals 50 summon damage. This effect has a 3-second cooldown.
  • Hallowed Regen, which grants +3 life regeneration.



Used in


  • The symbol depicted on the Hallowed Rune's sprite is a reference to the symbol of the first Karma rank in the game Rain World.
  • The shield in the Hallowed Defense buff icon is the Ornate Shield.
  • The knife in the Hallowed Power buff icon uses the same palette as the Excalibur.
  • The heart in the Hallowed Regen buff icon uses the same palette as the hearts the player has after using Life Fruit.


These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
  • Tooltip now states exactly what each buff does.
    • Buffed star base damage from 30 to 50.
    • Fixed stars scaling twice with summon damage.
  • Stars no longer inflict Astral Infection.
  • Star now inflicts Astral Infection for 3 seconds instead of 5.
  • Buffs no longer display a duration.
    • Nerfed on-hit buff durations from 2 seconds to 1.
    • Hallowed Defense now gives 8 defense and 4% damage reduction instead of 7 defense and 7% damage reduction.
    • Nerfed Hallowed Power damage buff from 15% multiplicative damage to 10% additive damage. Stars are now guaranteed to spawn instead of at a 33.33% chance, but increased cooldown from 1 second to 3.
    • Stars now have a base damage of 30.
    • Stars now have a soft damage cap of 50.
    • Now requires a Hardmode Anvil to craft.
  • Can now trigger on bosses that have no contact damage.
  • Stars now deal 33% damage and have a 1 second cooldown before re-appearing.
