Glowing Mushroom

The Fungal Symbiote is a Pre-Hardmode accessory that is obtained from the Glowing Mushroom biome shrine. When equipped, mushrooms will grow on the grass or soil beneath the player when they walk along the ground, similarly to how flowers grow with the Flower Boots equipped. Consuming Mushrooms grants the player the Mushy buff for 60 seconds.

All mushroom-type weapons will deal 10% more damage and will also emit non-damaging mushrooms.

  • The type of mushroom that can grow depends on the type of grass or soil the player walks on.

    • The Mushy buff from consuming Mushrooms with the Fungal Symbiote equipped does not go away when it is removed, so the player can get the most out of the effect by equipping it, eating a Mushroom, and then swapping to a different accessory.


    These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
      • Reworked:
        • Now grants a 10% damage boost when using mushroom-based weapons.
        • Mushrooms grow on grass beneath the player, and consuming Mushrooms grants the Mushy buff for 1 minute.
    • Mushroom projectiles no longer have a damage cap. However, mushroom projectiles now deal 15% weapon damage instead of 25%.
      • Added a small cooldown for when it can release its mushroom projectiles.
      • Mushrooms now have a soft damage cap of 100.
    • Nerfed true melee damage boost from 25% to 15%.
    • Fixed it interacting strangely with whipswords.
