The Fungal Symbiote is a Pre-Hardmode accessory found in the Glowing Mushroom biome shrine. When equipped, mushrooms will grow on grass beneath the player, similarly to how flowers will grow with the Flower Boots equipped. Which type of mushroom grows is dependent on the grass's biome type: Mushrooms grow on Grass and Hallowed grass, Vile Mushrooms and Vicious Mushrooms grow on their respective world evils, and Glowing Mushrooms grow on Mushroom grass. On Dirt Blocks, there is a 1/1000 chance every frame to grow either a Teal or Green Mushroom.

Consuming Mushrooms grants the Mushy buff for 60 seconds, increasing defense by 6 and life regeneration by 2.

All mushroom based weapons will deal 10% more damage and will also emit non damaging mushrooms.

  • Tips

    • The Mushy buff from consuming Mushrooms with the Fungal Symbiote equipped does not go away when it is removed, so the player can get the most out of the effect by equipping it, eating a Mushroom, and then swapping to a different accessory.
