Affliction is a post-Moon Lord accessory that is dropped by Polterghast. When equipped, all the player's teammates in the same team are granted the Afflicted buff, which provides all the bonuses while the accessory is equipped.

Affliction (and the Afflicted buff) provides the following bonuses:


  • Its behavior of granting bonuses to teammates is similar to the Paladin's Shield, however, the player experiences no negative effects.
  • The bonuses from the buff and the accessory itself do not stack with each other.


  • Prior to the update, the Affliction granted buffs depending on the player's Stress level. Having under 500 stress would grant the buffs to the player and having over 6000 stress granted the buffs to all players on the same team.


These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
  • Increased sell price from 26 Gold Coin to 35 Gold Coin.
    • Buffed defense boost from 10 to 13.
    • Now uses the Rarity Level: 13 rarity instead of Rarity Level: rainbow.
    • Nerfed defense boost from 20 to 10.
    • Buff is no longer displayed at 1 second.
  • Nerfed damage boost from 12% to 10%.
  • Now provides its full boosts on all difficulty modes instead of Revengeance Mode and higher.
    • Changed Afflicted's description from "Rage is power" to "Empowered by otherworldly spirits".
    • Fixed Afflicted not working in multiplayer.
  • No longer has increased life regeneration in Revengeance Mode.
  • Nerfed life regeneration boost from 2 / 3 Revengeance Mode to 1 / 2 Revengeance Mode.
  • Nerfed health boost from 10% to 5%.
    • Revengeance Mode changes:
      • Nerfed life regeneration boost from 4 to 3.
      • Nerfed damage reduction boost from 8% to 7%.
      • Nerfed defense boost from 45 to 40.
      • Nerfed damage boost from 15% to 12%.
      • Nerfed health boost from 20% to 15%.
  • Stat boosts which were only granted when the player was at or above 6000 Stress are now granted at all times.
  • Now properly checks for Revengeance Mode when evaluating the player's Stress level.
