Anechoic Plating is a Pre-Hardmode accessory that is obtained from Ancient Treasure Chests in the Abyss. When equipped, it makes Abyss enemies less likely to detect the player and reduces the defense reduction caused from the Abyss by 2/3.

- Anechoic Plating can also be obtained from the Hydrothermal and Sulphurous Crate after either The Slime God or Wall of Flesh have been defeated.
- When used in tandem with the Fathom Swarmer Breastplate, defense loss in the Abyss is reduced by 80%, rather than 73.6% that would naturally arise from equipping both.

- In real life, anechoic plating is used to make rooms that completely block out sound.
