The Shield of the High Ruler is a craftable Hardmode accessory that is a direct upgrade to the Shield of Cthulhu. When equipped, it grants immunity to knockback and fire blocks, 12 defense, 10 max life, and provides immunity to On Fire!, Chilled, Frostburn, Weak, Broken Armor, Bleeding, Poisoned, Slow, Confused, Silenced, Cursed, Darkness, Mighty Wind, and Stoned.
Wearing the shield grants the player the ability to dash a base distance of 19 blocks left or right by double tapping the ◀ Left or ▶ Right key. While dashing, the player can bounce off enemies in a similar manner to the Shield of Cthulhu, dealing 30 damage and granting the wearer 12 immunity frames. Successful bounces halve the delay of the dash from 0.5 seconds to 0.25. Additionally, the player gains 15% projectile damage reduction if the projectile faces the player when hit.
