The 2.0.4.002 (or 2.0.4.2) update gave nerfs to a few bosses, and fixed several bugs from previous updates, mostly in multiplayer.
Changes
Bosses
- Buffed several boss damage values in Master Mode:
- Decreased the delay of all dialogues in Boss Rush by 0.5 seconds.
- Decreased the delay between bosses in Tiers 4 and 5 of Boss Rush from 6 seconds to 4.
Desert Scourge
- Decreased max speed and turn speed in all difficulties.
- Decreased both Desert Nuisance's max speed and turn speed in all difficulties.
The Destroyer
- Significantly decreased laser fire rate in Revengeance Master Mode.
The Devourer of Gods
- Now immediately turns towards the player if the head is over 150 tiles away.
Duke Fishron
- No longer deals contact damage in the brief downtime between charges.
Exo Mechs
- Thanatos now takes 50% damage from Omicron's beam.
Leviathan and Anahita
- Ice Shield no longer deals contact damage unless it is almost fully opaque.
Lunatic Cultist
- Nerfed Ancient Vision's health from 4000 / 8000

The Old Duke
- No longer deals contact damage in the brief downtime between charges.
Plantera
- Now fires projectiles from her center instead of from the tip of her mouth if the player is too close to her.
- Thorn balls now pulse between brown and red when about to burst instead of smoothly turning brown.
- Thorn ball spikes are now purple instead of brown, can be fully seen in the dark, and accelerate slightly slower.
Skeletron
- No longer resets velocity to zero if the head teleports while doing spin attacks.
- Now has a longer delay between spin attacks while hands are alive.
- Hands now have a higher maximum velocity and lower acceleration while doing spin attacks.
- Now starts firing skull spreads after spin charge when below 20%
/ 30%
health instead of 50%.
- Now only fires one skull during the idle phase while hands are alive in Master Mode.
Skeletron Prime
- Revengeance Master Mode changes:
- Heads can now perform the spin attack, even when limbs are alive.
- The Twins and The Destroyer now leave when below 75% health instead of 70%.
- Decreased The Destroyer's turning speed during the fight.
- The Twins can no longer enter phase 2 during the fight.
Supreme Witch, Calamitas
- Now always fires a fireblast first during mobile phases.
- The first brother killed now respawns with 65% health after the other brother is killed in Master Mode.
Yharon, Dragon of Rebirth
- No longer deals contact damage during the fast charge telegraph.
Enemies
- Depth Crusher is now dropped by Viperfish instead of Moray Eels.
Balance
Armor and Accessories
- The Absorber, Cleansing Jelly, and Grand Gelatin's auras can no longer remove defense damage.
- Buffed Blazing Core's cocoon star base damage from 90 to 250. Increased parry window from 12 frames to 18.
- Crimson armor changes:
- Buffed all pieces' damage boosts from 5% to 6%.
- Buffed Crimson Scalemail's life regeneration boost from 1 to 2.
- Nerfed Festive Wings' ornament base damage from 100 to 50, and they now spawn every 15 frames instead of 10.
- Rebalanced Flame-Licked Shell. Buffed hellblast base damage from 60 to 200 and dart base damage from 20 to 70. Hellblasts now pierce 4 times instead of infinitely, and darts now pierce twice instead of infinitely. Increased parry window from 12 frames to 18.
- Flame Waker Boots now multiply heat debuff damage by 1.25x, and make all attacks inflict On Fire!. The heat debuff multiplier does not stack with Hellfire Treads.
- Nerfed rogue Hydrothermic armor, decreased flare damage from 50% of projectile damage to 50 + 15% of projectile damage.
- Shadow armor changes:
- All pieces now give 5% critical strike chance instead of 5% damage, and no longer give 7% jump speed.
- Nerfed set bonus max movement speed multiplier from 1.15x to 1.05x, acceleration multiplier from 1.75x to 1.25x, and deceleration multiplier from 1.75x to 1.5x.
- Set bonus boosts no longer stack with Magiluminescence.
Weapons
- Buffed Alluvion's damage from 78 to 83.
- Nerfed Alpha Virus, stealth strikes now have a 70% damage modifier. Stealth strike plague seekers can no longer proc projectile effects from rogue accessories.
- Buffed Basher's damage from 41 to 50.
- Bloodfire Arrows now ignore the lifesteal cooldown.
- Chronomancer's Scythe now deals magic damage instead of melee damage, and costs 10 mana to use.
- Cluster Rocket fragments now grant ID-static immunity frames instead of local immunity frames.
- Cobalt Naginata and Cobalt Sword's defense reduction effects now last 10 seconds instead of being permanent.
- Buffed Depth Crusher's damage from 35 to 48, and shot speed from 3 to 6. Decreased how much vertical velocity the sword gains from hitting enemies. Water energies now deal 30% base damage instead of 25%, increased homing range from 17.5 tiles to 24, and slightly increased how fast they home in.
- Nerfed Elemental Lance. Primary projectile now last 3 seconds instead of 5 and splits 6 times instead of 30. Secondary projectiles now split 3 times instead of 4.
- Rebalanced Exorcism. Stars now have 1 extra update instead of 3 and only spawn when hitting enemies, but now have predictive aim.
- Buffed Genesis' damage from 60 to 65.
- Nerfed Hailstorm Bullet, flash freeze now deals 36% base damage instead of 48%.
- Buffed Hardened Honeycomb's shot speed from 10 to 14. It now takes longer to fall due to gravity, decelerates slower due to gravity, and always spawns projectiles on death instead of only when hitting enemies.
- Buffed Heavenfallen Stardisk's damage from 155 to 165, and stealth strikes now have a 120% damage modifier.
- Increased the velocity of Mineral Mortar's rockets.
- Molecular Manipulator and Nullification Pistol can no longer affect NPC size while a boss is alive.
- Mythril Halberd and Mythril Sword's contact damage reduction effects now last 10 seconds instead of being permanent.
- Nerfed Nitro Express Rifle's damage from 1350 to 210 and knockback from 8.5 to 7.5, but buffed use time from 80 to 70. It now only converts Musket Balls. Converted bullets now pierce 4 times instead of 8. Decreased how much recoil the gun makes when fired.
- Nerfed Omicron, grenades now deal 14x base damage instead of 20x.
- Buffed Phangasm's damage from 87 to 117.
- Nerfed Plasma Rifle, left click toxic clouds now deal 30% base damage.
- Polaris Parrotfish's star shots can no longer bounce off tiles.
- Scourge of the Desert now homes towards the closest enemy when burrowing instead of the earliest enemy in the NPC array.
- Rebalanced Slick Cane. Buffed knockback from 5 to 6, but nerfed shot speed from 22 to 16. Increased swing velocity, and gave it a 125% size modifier. Decreased chance for stealth strikes to make enemies drop Gold Coins from 6.67% to 5%, but stealth strikes now having scaling damage based on how much money the player is carrying, up to 500% damage at 2 Platinum.
- Decreased Terratomere's beam homing range from 37.5 tiles to 25.
- Rebalanced Wingman. Buffed damage from 71 to 82. Grenades now deal 600% base damage instead of 450%, have 130% velocity, and have 6 extra updates instead of 4, but lose 20% damage per hit instead of 5%.
Other
- Increased minimum Adrenaline loss when taking small amounts of damage from 10% to 25%.
Recipes
- Flame Waker Boots now use 4 Obsidian and 5 Hellstone Bars in their recipe instead of 2 Obsidian, and now require an Anvil to craft instead of a Loom.
- Hellfire Treads now use 4 Essences of Havoc in their recipe.
- Nitro Express Rifle now uses Musket or The Undertaker, 3 Essences of Havoc, 3 Essences of Sunlight, and 5 Explosive Powder in its recipe, instead of Sniper Rifle, 3 Galactica Singularities, and 2 Dark Plasma. It now requires an Anvil to craft instead of an Ancient Manipulator.
- Rocket I and Rocket II recipes now require an Anvil to craft instead of a Hardmode Anvil.
Resprites
- Resprited Contaminated Bile and Pulse Rifle.
- Resprited placed Sulphurous Sand Wall.
Additional Changes
- Anti-Cyst Ointment, Anti-Tumor Ointment, Bleach Ball, Broken Water Filter, Sirenproof Earmuffs, and Voodoo Demon Voodoo Doll are now toggled by right clicking the item instead of favoriting them.
- The Bandit now always sells Slick Cane instead of only selling it in Hardmode.
- Changed the description when hovering over the Bestiary's NPC debuff vulnerability and resistance section to exactly mention how vulnerabilities and resistances affect enemies.
- Calamity's blood particles now cycle through rainbow colors if the Blood and Gore setting is disabled.
- Re-enabled custom tile merging for several Calamity tiles.
- Defense damage indicator can no longer display if the player takes 0 defense damage from an attack.
- Decreased Defiled Flame Dye's sell price from 12
to 6

- Changed a line in the Draedon communication text about the Exo Mechs.
- Navystone Wall, Smooth Navystone Wall, and Unsafe Navystone Wall now always appear on the minimap, even when behind water.

- Fixed Adrenaline Mode's buff tooltip stating outdated damage boost values.
- Fixed Ancient Sink, Ashen Sink, and Profaned Sink counting as a honey source instead of a lava source.
- Fixed Astrum Deus not using its alternate body textures in multiplayer.
- Fixed Botanic Sink counting as a lava source instead of a honey source.
- Fixed the first-time end dialogue in Boss Rush not appearing properly.

- Fixed Eater of Worlds always taking 1 damage outside of Revengeance Mode.

- Fixed Mythril Halberd and Mythril Sword's contact damage reduction effects causing enemies to deal contact damage for 1 frame if their contact damage is set to 0.
- Fixed existing Necroplasm and Necroplasmic Dye items being unloaded.
- Fixed an exploit allowing Norfleet to be used more than the intended 3 times in a row by swapping between separate Norfleet items.
- Fixed potential framing issues on certain NPCs when using Odd Mushroom.
- Fixed several desync issues with Omicron in multiplayer.
- Fixed Pulse Rifle's firing sound not playing for other players in multiplayer.
- Fixed enemies with their contact damage set to 0 not generating Rage when nearby.

- Fixed a game-breaking bug with Revengeance Master Mode Skeletron Prime causing players to "merge" and gain control of each other in multiplayer.

- Fixed Squire armor's set bonus tooltip saying that it negates the summon damage penalty despite not doing so.
- Fixed the Stealth Meter having a small delay between appearing full and being full.
- Fixed drawing issues with Stream Gouge's portals.
- Fixed Sulphurous Shale not properly changing the water color in layer 1 of the Abyss.
- Fixed Supreme Witch, Calamitas being able to fire projectiles during the teleport when spawning brothers.

- Fixed Tombstone tooltips stating an outdated number of Tombstones required to create a Graveyard.
